Stripping Chrome/Polished.. Repainting HELP!

Hey, i got this old school bike frame that im trying to paint black but today i tried to strip it. After a half an hour with BIX on it, nothing happened except it got shinier... :/

is this because the frame is polished??

I want to paint it black?? Should i sand paper it???!

Unless you want to deal with dangerous chemicals, don't use anything to get get rid of the chrome. Just use sandpaper or a sandblaster to rough it up and then wipe it down with acetone to get all the oils and grease off of it, then primer and paint.

The kind of chemicals that professional shops use...basically, it's battery acid. That's what they use to get chrome off. I've heard that Coke can work...but I don't have any experience with that so I don't know how well it does work.

try this

use some RED HOT degreaser, detail shops use it, and also there was another i used to use when i cleaned carpets- i pitted the chrome on a banshee using it.
