u really wont need oil at first, it just helps after a while, i bought a brand new chain and raced with it almost an entire season and it was fine untill it started squeaking, and brand new chains will usualy come with some sort of lube anyways.

I know. I was just posing this as to what some of you would use if you had no oil or lube to use on a bike. If any remember a previous posty like this one, {about the kid who used petroleum jelly????} I ran into him again and uses motor oil on his chain and around his hubs. wondering what people use at home to lube etc.????

2-stroke engine oil. Anything slippery will work.

you DO need some kind of lubricant.

use grease rather than oil, if you have a choice.

you could use anything tho, car oil, butter, cooking oil, baby oil etc.

how about, this will sound crazy but, chain lube 8O !

If you don't have a BMX/bike shop, go to a motorcycle place. Especially ones that cater to MX guys (who usually DIY more than on road guys). They WILL have chain lube.

The on road guys don't DIY as much, not because they don't want to, but because they can't. That shit is packed tighter than a *** guy's.

indeed
2 stroke gas is fine

the gas cleans the chain while the oil lubes it

yeah, except that WD-40 is a DEgreaser, thus making it worse.
