I have alloy rims and my brake pads dont seem to stop the bike sharply. Do i need soft or harder ones? Any advice...

he must mean chrome as opposed to black.

you need softer pads. greased cables. make sure the pads are square and they hit at the same time.

get a good brake and lever to reduce flex.

just ride brakeless dont have to worry about your brakes working or not :D.

You need harder brake pads if you have aluminum rims. They need to be able to react to the little pits in the aluminum. Chrome, need softer. Black, even softer than chrome.
