exactly, like last time cops showed up i seen a guy on his cellphone looking at us, i was gonna say im gonna go home, but i didnt think nothing of it, suv pulls up and tells us to stay, uniformed sheriff.. ****

suv cop.. impala cop... taurus cop... impala cop... bike cop, then the sheriff.. 6 cops...

they said there was a complaint of about 6 kids breaking into a truck.. we were sittin behind the truck waiting turns to wallride this bank wallride we made, owner said we could if we dont hit their trucks.

so then the cop says we are gona be charged for trespassing and criminal mischief and so on... we call the owner and tell himt he story, and he tells the cops theres no problem, we all get released. it was bullshit!

usually the cops only come and harass us when they have nothing else to do=every day.

sometimes theyll drive by the skatepark and see 20 bikers sitting staring at him go by and not even bother.. becuase sometimes they are nice and DO THEIR JOB and go bust other people.

but this one cop, burhow, he switched shifts to the dayshift, he said "im switching to days so i can sit down here at the skatepark and make sure none of you ride here" what a dick... that right there shows he has nothing else to do except harrass kids.. i can see stopping by to make sure we arnt riding.. but switching shifts to sit at the park all day.. thats ***

The whole police and security situation is weird for us bikers. I was in California a few weeks ago filming a Fuel TV "First Hand" and the cops and security don't care what you're filming for or who you are. I was handcuffed and escorted out of the park that happened to be during a bike session. I could've easily tossed my bike over the fence and ran but I'm over it. I'm tired of running when I'm not really doing anything wrong so I kept riding till the Sheriff showed up and asked me to put my hands behind my back. I figured it would look good on TV that even pro bike riders get arrested for riding their bike at a "public" park during bike hours. Maybe it'll help a little in the pursuit of being allowd in all parks in the country. Once the cops show up the best thing to do is cooperate cause they can make your life hell but give the rent-a-cop's hell for having their power trip.
If you're out street riding, hit and run is the best bet to not get caught until you get familiar with the spot. At "public" parks, make sure to look for a way out before going in and always have skatepark etiquette cause if you're respectful to the park and the skaters they're less likely to be the ones that call the cops on you.
I have a court date this month that I need to call about soon or traveling to California will cause me a lot more problems. No need to have a warrant for my arrest for just riding a bike at a park.

Do any of you over there ever bring up the point that we can ride pretty much every public park over here in the UK legally, with next to no problems? Does seem really unfair for you lot over there. Cool to see you on here again btw.

Yes we do actually tell anyone that we can how unfair it is that just about every other country lets all sports have access to the public parks and every state here in the US is different. Louisville, KY has a huge park that allows everyone to ride it whenever they want but most other states don't allow us access due to some legal issues. A lot of people in the US don't take responsibility for their own actions and sue other people for something they did wrong. It's making life harder on everyone. We're doing our best to change those laws and rules. We have a rider coalition right now working on a lot of different things and one of them is collecting the proper information to present to the people making the rules and showing them that it's not the bikes that are the problem, it's the quality of the park that is the problem. The concrete gets wrecked because it's not good enough, the coping gets dented because it's not strong enough. Some planning ahead would solve those problems. We'll see what happens.

True, true. Assholes with cellphones do alot of damage though. They just think we're all wrong and up to no good so they phone in the cronies. I've been cuffed, slammed, arrested and fined.....for what? My bike. I cant even do manual lines at the post office without being told to leave by cops. People have a problem with what we are doing.

What bmx needs is a documentary that dwells into bmx. All the how, where, and why explained at an imax theater. The world should see how benificial bmx is to the people who do it before they come as quick as they do to judge us.

The world should see what they've been sleeping on. Yeah, bmx is somewhat destructive but isn't every action we do as humans just as destructive? I mean, to make a table, you have to kill a tree. The burning of fossil fuels has all but destroyed our planet. To make a shirt, chemicals are made and harmful by-products are produced. Those denim jeans people like so much are made from things that were once alive. We cant do a single thing without being destructive in the process. Like the old saying goes, "you cant make an omlet without breaking a few eggs."

Our society should see not just bmx, but all alternative sports as a good thing. The united states is the fattest country in the world. WE'RE up to our necks in lard. I mean, kids now adays watch tv, play video games, listen to their ipods while chatting on the internet, and eat. This evolves into drugs, driving around for no reason, and having sex with strange girls on a continual basis. Not there's anything wrong with those things once in a while but I know many people who do this and nothing else all the time. With things like those as an influence, it's no wonder why our country is getting worse instead of better. A large percent of people aren't influenced as much to take up hobbies. A large percent of parents let the tv and video games raise their kids instead of getting involved and being an actual parent.

You're average person is ignorant as dogshit on the subject of bmx. You have to educate them and point out their faults to get anything across. People dont understand why we bmx. People are scared of things they dont understand.

Just some ranting/food for thought.

Things aren't too much better up here in Canada. We have a couple parks in town, 4 of them that are pretty decent (2 outdoor and 2 indoor). One outdoor one is BMXers and skaters sharing without any problems, probably because that area of town is right by college and the number of bmxers almost matches the number of skaters. The other outdoor park is mostly skaters and you get hassled if you try and ride there. Of the two indoor ones, one is skating only. The other park has 1 or 2 days a week set aside for BMX, which is a step in the right direction at least. I never understood the whole skater vs biker thing and having both groups join forces would get a lot more parks built, in my opinion. Peaceful cohabition!

i live in aus. i live inbetween 2 parks, 1 bikers are outnumbers 8 - 1. other park ( 1 i go to way more often ) skaters are out numbers 5 - 1...

at both parks, cops dont bother with anyone. they sometimes come down if some randoms called up for people doing tags. but they dont bust us for helmets or anything so. yeh they dont giv us to much shit.

and ive gotten alot of warnings for helmetless riding, no fines yet so thats decent.

A couple of weeks a go my friends had the cops called on them I wasnt there because I had a detention. What happened was this ladies kids left there scooters outside one was on the sidewalk and the other was in the grass. You couldnt see the one in the grass because the grass was so long so my friends tried to go around the one on the sidewalk and went into the yard and hit the other scooter on accident. Lady called the cops on them and she was the one who ended upo getting in trouble.
