[Review] Odyssey Dirt Path Plyte

Ok the small review:

First, i buy a nice set of Odyssey Dirt Path Plyte tires like a month ago. I always use maxxis, primo, snafu tires or another kind of odyssey tires except most recent tires from Odyssey (Reg Path, Aitkens or G-Frequency, ...)

Odyssey Dirt Path Plyte tires.
The tire had a hard bottom rubber (i' dont know the name in english) but is very durable, 90psi, low rolling resistence, i have both tires (front 2.20 rear 1.85) are incredible grippy in almost any condition, the tires takes almost anything, easy to put in the rims. they have now like a month of street ridding.

Pros:
Durable
A lot of grip
Light
Good for everything***

Cons:
Very, Very thin side walls
Price (maybe)
***Not very good for street (because the side walls or just because me)

8.5/10

If i forgot something, tell me please

the strange thing:

Last sunday with some friends, we find a nice place to ride, quiet with nobody bothering. I did a nice grind the in a wall with metal edge, perfect for grinding, and after couple of minutes, when my friend tell: "you have a hole in the tire and the tube is trying to escape (getting out)". Ok, was a small hole, but the tire just have like a month, almost new, and now had a damn hole. I already repaired the tire. (Sorry i don't have pics from the day of the accident, or when the tire had the hole). That day I was very smooth with everything, it was weird because I'm very aggressive with my bike, and this incident ruin my day.

I don't know if this is normal or was just "luck" or something, i need to know if someone pass from the same exact or similar incident.

Fixed tire:

(re-vulcanized, the patch just covers the rubber)

(you can't see the differrence because it was a very detailed and cared work)

The question:
I need a really good street tires, i always destroy the side walls of the tires very easy. So, what tire is the best for street?

I buy this plyte tires just for testing it, for that and because a lot of people were saying these are good.

My Bike:

And sorry for the crappy pics

a couple of animal GLH tyres if you want some tread

couple of animal ASM's if you don't mind them being nearly slick. i've got a couple, had them for about 5 months, have yet to slip or provide any problems

good review. wrong place but since you are semi-new it is ok. the mods will move it.

If you're looking into thicker sidewallscheck out the Animal GLH and ASM and also the Primo Wall has very thick sidewalls as well. I've had each of those tires and I'd reccomend all of them.

UUUppppssss!!!. A mistake in the place of posting. Thanks for moving!!!!.
And yes, i beat my bike a lot, and I destroy rims very fast too. I need tires with a tick sidewalls, i heard good things about animal tires, maybe the next week i buy some. I don't trust in snafus again, I kill a tire in 2 months, the maxxis have a good average, but the same, i destroy kind of fast the sidewalls.

Thanks for all the advises!!!.

NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING compares to animal tires when it comes to street and grinds. Get an ASM on the rear and and GLH on the front and you'll never have problems with sidewalls again. I've been riding my ASM tire since August and I changed it 3 weeks ago. There were absolutly NO marks of sidewall damage and I grind pretty often.

The normal Path tires (i.e., not the Plyte version) hold up pretty well. The Plyte versions have thinner walls, as you found out when you got an aneurysm.

Having said that, the Animals etc. people have suggested might do better than the normal Paths, I dunno (I've not had any experience with them).
did it happen on the front or back tire? i only ride mine on the front because of the thin sidewalls so it hardly ever rubs anything and mine are fine
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

I don't know why that happen, but the same happened with my friend in the front tire, i ask about with the distribiutor in Costa Rica and they say: "wrong tire pressure", but they send to him a new 2.10 regular path without charge. (i suppose the tires have warranty or something).
