I ruined 10mm axles so often, I wanted the Gack hubs so badly! But my first >10mm hub was (coincidentally) the Haro Fat hub. Problem was, the fat hub was a 3pc axle with 1/2" studs, and my frame (Hoffman Condor) had 14mm dropouts already. As you can guess, it fit like shit, all the stength of a thick dropout was gone. So I ended up breaking studs on my grind side often too, although they'd last much longer than 10mm axles.

I still have my Fat Hub wheel lying about too, it has my 12t ACS Claw freewheel on it (12t is a joke, it's a 116t with 4 teeth missing hehe).

Hey Rise Above did you or are you living in Long Island? I know Brands out in Wantagh and thats where i use to get some of my bmx bike parts when i was in High School.

Still here! Grew up in Seaford but I now live in Oceanside. I went to Brands yesterday after visiting my parents......ah, all the t-shirts still smell like tires!

Cool, im from Glen Head. Brands had the best selection of BMX stuff at the time. Than Bicycle Planet started getting good but waaaaay over priced. I remember i got pitchforks at Brands for $65 when even the mail orders were selling them for $80.. now the damn things are $100.

:O i used to run a old TNT warlord with threaded stem/forks, threaded pegs and a seatpole with about 4" out, 1 piece crank and plactic pedals and a 16T freewheel with a heavy ass 42T (i think it is) diamond plate sprocket and 10mm single wall rims with tire 35PSI max.

I had a similar problem with my Fat Hub, so I made custom axle bolts out of old Haro fork pegs. The thread size was the same as the hub, so you just cut off the part of the peg that you stand on and you have instant axle studs that use an 18MM socket. They didn't break, they just bent!

I remember when Dave Mirra would get into a double peg grind on vert, then put 1 foot on the front non-grinding side peg, and his other foot on the rear non-grinding side peg.

I remember when Matt Hoffman did a 360 over flaming cars on Stuntmasters. And he was on MTV Sports. I should find those videos and post them.

Damn yeah you are jk. I wasnt old enough to see it when it came out in theaters but i saw it on VHS. I remember it and its an awesome movie. They should make more bmx movies like that or at least a newer one.

What was the song in that, i cant remember it but it was so 80s but cool.

I watched the whole of Rad earlier tonight. Some funny stuff, like quotes I never new were from the movie, the Full House chick telling Cru Jones (who is on his back after a slam) that he over-rotated ("No shit?"), Mongoose playing the corporate bad-asses and so on.

Next time you're at the park and you see someone who is really good just say "He's nothing compared to Bart Taylor..."

And the Matt Hoffman thing was on his orange Haro Master with a bashguard, like this one.
