the sapient lumino. On my last post you guys keep telling me this is a cheap ass bike and it will bust and kill me or whatever.
But you guys dont stop and think, do you? You dont think of my needs, or what I want from it.

I dont know why you guys are hating these bikes so much (at least most of you) just because you've never really heard of it, doesn't mean they are bad.

These are my needs out of a bike
-Light (which sapients are)
-Able to do small tricks. And this is the part where you guys get all bent outta shape. You act like just because the bike is slightly cheap and not made out of the best material it is bad. But i dont plan to give this bike a beating. Just some wheelies, small ramp jumps, etc. Nothing major at all.
So i just want this as a decent begginer bike.
Just please check out this bike, and tell my if it is a good begginer bike for small tricks. And just to let you know, I had a 60$ walmart bike that couldnt do wheelies or manuals because it was to heavy, but I could take it of even some decent jumps and it wouldnt bust. I just want a new one because my old one is ugly and heavy

what a load of bull, weight has nothing to do with someone "not" being able to do a wheelie or a manual.


If you wanna buy a particular bike, buy a particular bike, No1 cares, people are just giving you advice on what to avoid, If you had sense you would avoid trying to "save money" by going cheap, you cant polish a turd. The second one you posted a link to is just awful, don't expect that thing to last. It probably costs about the same to make a shopping trolley.

You came here to ask advise, some of us gave it to you. You didn't like what you heard. Tough sh!t. You asked here cause u figured we knew what we were talking about, when we didn't day what u wanted to hear u got butthurt. If u aren't going to put it through the normal rigors of a normal Bmx on this forum why ask here or.care what we say. This forum supposed to be here to help each other when we want help. U don't want help. U want us to say what you want to hear. So here ya go-

You guys just dont understand. You guys just make generalizations without knowing if it is correct or not.
I recall someone saying "hi-ten fork and bars? have fun pulling that shrapnel out of your guts when the bars snap and become imbedded in your gut. those bikes sound like junk, but you get what you pay for.

This is just the example. In that post, did i even mention WHAT i was going to do on the bike, or what I wanted out of it? Maybe all i wanted it was to do the tinniest jump everynow and then. i mean do you really think If i do some minor tricks, the bike is gonna bust and kill me because it isn't made out of the best material? No, I bet that wouldn't happen.
Guys, just dont assume. You know what they say about that.

you don't need to be doing anything hard core to break or bend hi tensile parts. same with single walled rims. you can damage those parts literally riding off a curb - and i'm not pissing about, either.

you are better off looking for a used bike in the classified (or some old store stock).

anyway, these threads remind me of torchracing's epic mountain bike excursions, now stickied one on the top of the forum.

18 years of experience in bicycles has proven to me that most cheap bikes are junk. those Sapient bikes fit into the category. you don't need anyone's blessing via the internet to buy one, so just go ahead and do it. don't say we didn't warn you though.

you should not assume anything about me. I have been riding BMX for longer than you have been alive. I know what I am talking about. you need to check your pride at your login and realize that some people know more about certain things than you do. you asked for advice and we gave it to you. I based my advice on NEARLY TWO FREAKING DECADES of experience being around kids who have bent, shattered, and cracked inferior parts like that and injured themselves while doing wheelies and dropping down three-step staricases. if you can't spend a penny more, save up more money or find another hobby, like walking. what you need to get into your head is that the naysayers are saying nay because they have good reason to. it's called experience, and many of us have it. and you DO NOT.

I'm done. go buy that bike. enjoy. hopefully it works out for you. if not, tough luck.

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe these people are telling you these things from experience!? Just about evryone here at one point has broken or bent parts on there bike and sometimes can result in serious injury. Maybe if you would take your head out of your *** and take in what we have been trying to tell you, just because we are trying to help you and give you OUR HONEST opinion you take it offensively and cry about. Go ahead buy your crap bike and when you break a leg from your cranks snapping when you case your "small" jump dont come crying to us.

"high-tensile steel just means it's rather strong steel. it's stronger than the stuff they make sardine cans out of, but not strong enough to handle the rigors of aggressive bicycle riding. it's not as strong as chromoly, which you can read about here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/41xx_steel

ik im being a hippocrate when i say this but my friends and i call hi tensile steel tinfoil lol. once you get better u will break this bike gurienteed. u wanna know how i know? i have a 2010 dk siklon. a seroous bmx bike unlike this pos. $230 new off danscomp. its a fantastic bike for beginners and i love it but now i need to keep upgrading it because i am getting too good for it. i have had to get a new front wheel from a 2011 kink curb, i am buying new bars etc so do yourself a favor and dont buy it. at least buy a siklon its a good bike for what you are saying u can do. or buy a dk cygnus $290 with a chromo main frame
