How To Manual?

Thread Starter
I've been trying to ride manuals in my local parking lot for the past 3 nights for about 2 hours a night. But I still don't feel like I've made progress... A friend told me to lock my elbows, and put my butt over the seat, and if the front wheel gets low to the ground I need to lower my butt to bring it back up... But I still can't do a manual over 5ft. Any Help? Thanks!

it takes practice. lots of practice. you have to find your balance point everyone is different. i know some people that keep the front end really low, and some high. i keep mine kinda in between. but it takes practice. ive been riding almost 3 years and i practice manny's all the time, and i'm still not too good.

I have been practicing mannys pretty consistently for about a year and I can only get like 30 feet every once and awhile.
And then my bike got stolen so when my new one comes I'm sure it will be impossible all over again. Yeahhhh for douches.

i've been practicing these for a little while and some things i've found are
crouch, then quickly shift your weight backwards, keep your arms straight though
faster is easier to balance
use your legs to push the bike underneath your ass.

If you look threw your handlebars it makes it easier.

make sure to use your arms and legs in equal amounts. if its all legs or arms it wont work.

and dont be afraid to lean back.

it takes practice, to find your balance point apply your rear brake and lift up your bike and move over your back tire until you find what is most comfortable for you, but to get in to your manual position have a quick thrust backkwards and push forward with your feet, and to balance yourself hump the air. Its going to take time because this is one of those tricks that you will just need to practice for ever to get the hang of it.

Who are you quoting yourself? Looking through the bars helped me stay straight and helped with balance.

I've been trying to do manuals and bunnyhops for a few days i've found that to begin with you might want to try going over a kerb just to get the front wheel of the ground i've found that this works to start with, however don't get to excited and pull to hard as i did that got around ten metres and proceded to fall on my ass :)
