[How To] Fakie "slider"
Alright I say learn without brakes, as in my opinion its much easier because its smoother and you use no pedal power to keep you going. It took me like 2 weeks to get them dialled so I'll try to help you.
1-first roll up the quarter/bank/whatever your going to fakie off
2-when your as high as your gonna go do a little bunnyhop (this will give you more speed making it easier to slide out of fakie and it helps you keep your balance)
3-right when you land the hop begin pedalling backwards(not real fast just as fast as your bike makes you(you have to be in control) learn to pedal backyard good!)
4- now your ready to get out of it
4a-once completely centered over the bike and still pedalling backwards turn your bars about 45 degrees the opposite way you want to turn out.(i.e. if you want to turn out the left turn your bars 45 degrees to the right which should turn the front of bike and put you closer to the side you want to turn out to) KEEP PEDALLING BACKWARDS
4b-now lean back and put your butt over the back wheel like a manual and while still PEDALLING BACKWARDS now quickly turn you wheel the direction you want to turn out to and it will slide around(only if your leaning back and you keep PEDALLING BACKWARD.
troubleshooting
the hardest part off learning this for me was the fact that you have to keep pedalling backward until you have slid all the way around .
**remember to lean back***
This is how I learned hope it helps :]
heres a how-to vid I made
http://www.vimeo.com/clip:214546
and one more thing to remember is that if you ride right foot forward and turn to the left then you should start the slider when your right foot is just about at the top of the crank thing (when your cranks are vertical and your right foot is on top) that way your left leg will be out of the way when you try to slide
and if you ride left forward and turn to the right then do the opposite of what it says above
and if your goofy then just try to keep your leg out of the way.Last edited by nutsgeezer; 07-21-2007 at 04:31 PM.

ya no problem i had problems to but i had to figure out what to do myself but i think it made me better and now i can explain better for people
and one more thing to remember is that if you ride right foot forward and turn to the left then you should start the slider when your right foot is just about at the top of the crank thing(idk when your cranks are vertical and your right foot is on top) that way your left leg will be out of the way when you try to slide

No. There is no need for doing it with brakes. AND it looks a lot uglier with brakes.

When I do sliders I don't really turn the bars the opposite way first, I just turn them. And I don't use pedal pressure/brakes either.
