[How to] The Tailwhip
Article from BMX-Zone.com, http://www.bmx-zone.com/en-article-id-489.html
As you know, some people prefer different leg positioning, I will explain with both. The position will remain the same, so if you find the first option more comfortable it will always be the first one, and the opposite.
1. Start rolling at a slow pace. You should be on the left side of the bike with your left foot on the front peg and your right foot on the back peg.
1b. Start rolling at a slow pace. You should be on the right side of the bike with your right foot on the front peg and your left foot on the back peg.
2. Press the front brake, to get the back wheel off the ground, and push the back wheel with your right foot.
2b. Press the front brake, to get the back wheel off the ground, and push the back wheel with your left foot.
3. Take your right foot and place it on the front wheel as close to the top as you can.
3b. Take your left foot and place it on the front wheel as close to the top as you can.
4. Watch the frame as it comes around and with your left foot, catch the top tube as close to the seat post as possible.
4. Watch the frame as it comes around and with your right foot, catch the top tube as close to the seat post as possible.
5. Your right foot will be pushed off the tire and you want to try to get it to the pedal. But if you can't you can place it on the frame.
5b. Your left foot will be pushed off the tire and you want to try to get it to the pedal. But if you can't you can place it on the frame.
6. Ride away with a big smile on your face :-)
TIPS
* Don't rock your body while kicking the frame. Use only your leg to push it around.
* Try to keep your body centered over the head tube while the frame is moving.
* Set up your pedals! By having your right pedal foward, your foot will basically drop right to it from the tire.
* Right before you catch the frame, press your back brakes. This will keep you from rolling backwards once it hits the ground.
* Wear shin pads, you might get a spinning frame, or pedal stuck in your shin.. ouch!

note: in the video he makes the trick with resting the leg on the peg, and not tire, thats personal prefference.
Feel free to criticize. P.S NOT me on bike.Last edited by dave0; 02-01-2007 at 05:28 PM.

I would recommend doing tailwhips foot jam style. It is and easier balance point for one thing, and when you start learning pinky squeaks you won't automatically try to make a tailwhip out of it.
If voting really could change things then it would be illegal.

Yeah but bmx-zone is without frame by frame examples. I would sticky all of them if i was the admin. And If my friend gets a video camera I'll put what I can do on youtube and post about it
