[HowTo] Fakie Rollouts [S][P]
Article from BMX-Zone.com, http://www.bmx-zone.com/en-article-id-239.html
Well, I was really annoyed with rollbacks - they simply didn't feel natural enough to me using my brake, or pedal power. So, I simply didn't bother with either, the results? Better rollouts, smoother, less chance of killing yourself or concussion, etc. The key to a good rollback is the 3 point turn. I find that rollouts that have both wheels on the ground look way better and are smoother. It pains me to watch someone do a trick that looks good, rollback smoothly, then rollout in the most horrible way with one wheel a metre high off the ground (if you can do this with both wheels a metre high, then stop right here, although I doubt you would read this.)
How to do the trick:
1.) Do your fakie. However you like. Wherever you like. This may not work on the Moon though, you may find yourself floating off the ground. And no, halfcab hops that are 44" do not count if you are on the Moon, only 25' ones.
2.) After a metre or so, turn in the appropriate direction, like you would steer a car in reverse. KEEP ROLLING THE PEDALS BACK. (Doesn't matter if you don't have a chain, duh)
3.) If you did the above step correctly, your front wheel will be sliding along slightly sideways. You should be facing 90 degrees to the way you were initially going fakie. Once you get to this stage, turn your bars into the direction you need to go i.e. straight forwards. KEEP ROLLING THE PEDALS BACK.
4.) You now need to pump the rest of the way to straighten out. This is done by bending the knees, then instead of pulling yourself up, you push the bike down, forcing your feet into the pedals. You can pump regardless of where you are on the bike, you can pump going fakie on a handlebar ride if you really wanted to, not really recommended whatsoever. KEEP ROLLING THE PEDALS BACK.
5.) You will now be facing the intended direction. Straighten out a bit and try again. Practice makes perfect. In case you were wondering, you can now pedal. Disclaimer: Does not apply to chainless riders.
There you go, now go to the shop and buy yourself a drink, but tape it to your seat so that you have added incentives to learn. NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU CANNOT CONTROL BOWEL MOVEMENTS AND ROLL BACKWARDS SITTING DOWN.
Variations
1.) Half Cab hops - at Stage 3, simply hop up and let the momentum carry you. WARNING: THE MOMENTUM WILL NOT CARRY YOU FOR TOO LONG.
2.) X-Up rollouts - this is a strange one, there are variations to this itself, simply roll fakie, at Stage 3, turn the bars even more and straighten out. Quite strange to get used to.
3.) Cross footed - Once you REALLY have rollouts mastered, you can go onto having the left foot on right pedal and vice versa
4.) No Handed - Go on, I dare you.
5.) Shadow Slider - Tip over a bit and grind your pegs on the ground, rather hard to do. It doesn't count if you drop, no.
You may be wondering why I used all this time to write a howto on a friggin rollback. If so, please learn to read or do not contribute to the gene pool since I stated the reasons above.
Have fun, or else.

These type of rollbacks are commonly called "sliders" for obvious reasons. They are fun to do, but they might not work on some surfaces like raw asphault.

I aid "might not" You should still eb able to get out of the fakie, but front wheel will just carve instead of sliding.
Anyways have you actualy done the "shadow slider" sounds fun and I might give it a try.

- Ride up to a slope or [if your on flat ground] hit your front brakes (you only have to rise about 15 cm off the ground)
- Start pedaling backwards (you can either do this by standing up or sitting down)
- If you start "falling" to the left, turn your handelbars to the right. If you start falling to the right turn your bars to the left. [this will help you turn back upright, so you dont end up falling.]
- You wont be ridding fakie for you shouldnt be faking more then 2 feet on your first try, so keep practicing!
- Once you can ride fakie a good distance, you'll want to be able to turn around. To do so, while you are riding fakie, stop pedaling backwards, and begin to try to pedal forwards, while lifting the front end and pivoting on your back tire. The momentum change from trying to pedal forward will help your bike spin. This must all be done in 1 motion, more or less.

step 4 says you wont be riding fakie for less than 2 feet. should be more. dont mean to be a douche but ya. and you can also fakie by tapping your brakes.
