would it be okay to use a little bit of motorcycle engine oil on a cassette driver?

I would say no. I've heard that cassettes use a wax base grease. If you put oil in it, it will gum it up, break it down, and eventually seize up your cassette. That's what I've heard, not sure it it's true though. I'm sure someone can confirm it or not.

Man, I'd hate to tell you wrong. I'm pretty certain there is a specific type that's best. My cassette is new so I haven't had to mess with it yet. Let me see if I can find some answers for ya.

use liek a 20W 5 engine oil if you are using it...use a think oil so it won't run out...but not too think...it's cool for a while but not too long it's not meant for cassettes...

Well, there you go Danclosh!
I would look into using Philwood bike lube. It's the greatest stuff. I've heard marine grease works good also.
