I like Abba, Aesope Rock, Stevie Wonder, Howlin' Wolf, Rasputina, The Clash, The Queers, Showtunes...I don't know, I like it all if it's good. I can't really pick any specific genre, they're all too broad. For example, define 'punk'?

What if we dont like to pick one specific part of a genre... what if we like punk.emo.jazz.ecclectic.and all other stuff?

Remember when making a poll some people are more opened minded and like more than rock and rap...

hence it's a stupid poll. especially since he put like 4 types of rock in there or something and could of just had 'rock'

I like most stuff: punk, indie, hip-hop, rock'n'roll. Whatever really.

I was at a benefit for a not for profit the other night, and I won the raffle grand prize which was 40 hardcore cd's and the one's I've checked out so far are pretty unlistenable. What about Blues on the list? I've been listening to excessive amounts of Howlin' Wolf and John Lee Hooker lately. My guilt pleasure is Tori Amos.

define 'punk'

well...punk music started in the mid 70's. i cant really say who started it, many people say the pistols, others say the clash, some even think that velvet underground were the first "punk" band. no one will ever know. punk music imo, is based mainly on social and political factors. punk bands reject selling out, or being promoted by "big shit corporations"(i.e cbs promoting the clash). the members/fans of punk bands are usually anti-conformist, anti-capitilist, anti-gov't, and anti-any thing that gets a lot of media attention. most of the early anarcho bands are pacifist, fight for womans rights, and fight for equal rights in general, including animal rights. i dont like the label "punk", because its thrown around way too much. i dont dress "punk" because punk isnt about fashion.......**** i typed a lot. if anyone else wants me to clear something up, ill be more than happy to do so.

The Ramones are the ultimate punk band and they're totally non-political. I know the history of punk, I used to write for MRR when I was in college. I think think it has become a pale imitation of itself. 'Punk's not dead, it just deserves to die, when it becomes another stale cartoon.' -Jello Biafra

yeah, ive used the quote by jello biafra before, its so true. i dont like the ramones, and dont really consider them punk because theyve sold out far too many times. i respect joey ramone and all, but....idk
