Okay,, heres a safty Q. I have an ipod nano, And listen to it at a low volume, but to me its still a hazard. But i don't like all the outside noise. What should i do? Cuz i'm asking for my own safty reasons. If theres a way to ride with music, please tell me. Thanx

you mean you dont want it loud because it damages your ears, but you dont want to hear outside noise? -if so look for some noise cancelling headphones.
or do you mean, you dont like outside noise but dont want to get rid of it as your sense of hearing can be useful for your safety? (eg hearing the car coming thats going to run you over)
If it's the latter example that sm1thson mentioned, and it's too loud even on low volume for you to feel safe, there isn't really anything you can do.

okay,, you both r right, Its weird i know, I try riding my bike without music, but it makes it boring for me. So i listen to music, but at a low volume, because i want to be able to hear a car coming from behind me. But i'll try to get into the noise canceling headphones, cuz i use crisp white ear buds. Thanx, Sorry if this sounds confusing,

if you use noise cancelling you wont hear cars coming up behind you! -they cancel the noise!
i find 'headphones' rather than 'earphones' better for the situation you describe, but headphones with an open design that rest on your ear rather than encapsulating your ear, that way you can hear all the music well at a range of volumes and still hear cars etc but the balance between music and cars isnt as fine a line (ie a step closer to the situation you describe of having a stereo on you bike)
Buy one of those OGIO backpacks with the speakers built in.

Ha,, yea, your right about the being pissed part, cuz i cherish my tunes and ipod. I just foundout about this cool little gadget, called i-bike, from wal-mart, i did some research on the subject and found it at walmart. But your right, cuz it could fall and break. And i will get pretty upset. But anyways thanx for ya'll advise.

ride with one earpiece in, you will be able to hear great. if you go to a park or whatever just stick the other one in.
i used to work with one earpiece all the time, as i had to be able to hear the forklifts coming around the warehouse, and i can assure you with one in, you are perfectly safe.
if you have problems with it pulling the one in your ear out, then try to get a little clip for cell phone headphones that clips to your collar (its meant to keep the mic for the phone near your mouth, but you can clip the other headphone to your shirt, and it wont pull on the one in your ear)

you plug this helmet into your ipod and apparently it doesnt block out outside noise either. i thought it was a great idea.

Just look around when you ride, I ride with my sansa at about half volume most of the time and the only occasion where it's ever caused a problem was when I wasn't paying attention to what's around me.

Exactly.
I remove the one on the side of the road (eg the side cars are most likely to pass on), which in the US would be the left ear.

on the ipod headphones the holes on the outside are so you hear outside noise. its really unsafe to not hear any noise. otherwise u cant hear cars coming
