I love the decade. For me it will never die. I'm trying to learn decade tailtaps now, just so I can keep it in my bag. Anybody else?
(The Old School forum has been kinda dead lately, just rtying to strike up a conversation...)

Yeah! The Miami hopper!
I bet that comes back as a ramp trick sometime soon, just like lawnmowers.

I still do rockwalks a lot, in fact I do it just before the edge of something so I can do the 2nd part of it as a half-cab off :>

I still do no foot, no hands or no hand 1 foot curb endos. I try no hand toothpicks from time to time, it's not oldschool but I get the idea from the curb endos.

whats a framestand?
is it just standing on your frame or something

Justin
04-15-2007, 09:43 PM
Yeah a framestand is when you basically stand on the top tub right in front of the seat tube. Back in the OLD days, frames had platforms there.
There was a time when people would do framestand grinds, just grinding with one foot up on the top tube.(still holding the bars, not like a framestand on the ground where you stand up) My good buddy used to do framestand icepicks and framestand icepick grinds. Pretty sick.

jaredmi, If i'm not mistaken, Perry Merver jumped from his rear pegs to his bars. He's one of my favorite riders. Wonder if he still rides..

I had a good day @ the park today. After doing a few no hander landers off a flyout jump last week, I tried some 1 hander landers over the box today, luckily without any crashes. I also pulled some avalanches (old Hoffman stall where you stall on grip tube & rear peg), but I could already do them (just hadn't in a while).

Oh, and did I mention I still do bus drivers instead of barspins sometimes? For those who don't know what 1 is, it's when you do a barspin, but use the 'throwing' hand to push the bars all the way around, instead of throwing.

Justin

I still try busdrivers from time to time. I also started trying one-handed double peg grinds to one-handed roll in-on quarters. I use to have one hander-landers dialed.
I did a few flatland rock-walks on my MTB today.

I still do rock walks, pogo's, framestands, when I first started doing them, I put my right foot on t.t., and my left foot on the rear brake caliper, platforms werent even invented yet.
I also do all sorts of endo variations, my favorite is no handed footjam on a deadman ledge

I love tire grabs, i want to try to start doing flatland decades out of fufunus/abubacas except i only have about 3in of post sticking out of my seat tube, so its hard to get my foot inbetween to do them. I also do on ledges from time to time one hander landing into a feeble grind.

Anyone do nac nacs anymore?

I Love the endo no footer and the endo to rear tire bunny hop over and over then just balenceing in a wheelie while on the rear break without moving for as long as possible

tailwhip ;) footplant yes, how long you guys practised for decade?

Dion Rides

Footplant
No-footed foot plant (between two columns, you have to grab the seat)
Rear peg wheelies
Rock-walks
Kick-outs on garbage cans
curb skids

-I'm waiting to get my gyro in so I can go for spin stuff. I realy want to re-learn tailspin footplants and boomerangs/decades. No footed footplant (between two columns) and grab the seat, then you can do a bar spin.

It's a learning curve on a 26", but it's all possible.

Dion Rides
05-28-2007, 06:26 PM
Oh yeah, I can also do the thing where you are on your back peg and scuffing the rear wheel backward to go in circles.

Justin

I seriously practiced them for almost a month. From the time I could get the front wheel up and jump off to the time I could actually pull them. I dedicated a lot of riding time to learn just that trick. I almost burned myself out on them too, it's good to have some variety during practices to avoid that. Everybody learns at a different pace though.

If I can remember, in order to get a good decade was to being to throw your body one, slight step before you actually you get your front wheel off the ground. The inertia will help not only get the front wheel up, but the peak of the front wheel being off the ground and your body above the bike will match up evenly.

Geez... I don't know if that makes sense :hmm:

swirling zagnuts, jelly-donuts, and helicopters. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to go buy 101 Freestyle Tricks the book(1989). And probably go buy Aggroman too and watch it.

Actually I still do can-can footplants.

I have part 2, video and book, but I don't have the book for part 1. Just the tape. I'll have to refresh myself on those!

all my tricks are old school... As I learned them all pre 1992.

Chase and I came up with this one. We spent a couple of hours just coming up with different lawn mower variations.

The "thinker"

Justin

That's awesome. When you refer to "Chase", are you talking abou THE Chase?? Gouin?

FreeEnterprise

Whoa, Chase & Kevin, flatland royalty!

P.S Love the thinker, lol :>

P.P.S Anyone else see Aaron Ross' no handed feebles?

Justin
09-07-2007, 12:47 AM
I rode with Chase a couple times when he used to hang out at Chenga 1, many years ago. (7-8?) Very cool guy. Fun to ride with, even though he was WAAAAY better than me. He was very supportive of what I was trying to do.

FreeEnterprise, you should post some video of your riding. You seem to have the flatland expereince that makes for great viewing!

I'm gonna go search that Aaron Ross thing now...
