If you really want to learn them, then you should learn them. It may take a long time, but in the end you'll be able to do them.

You should learn them when you feel ready!

Try no footers, get used to taking your feet off and back on to the pedals. Tailwhips are kinda hard to build up to, you just gotta try them. Wear knee pads and shinguards!

ok welll i jsut learned whips in the last 4months...and. lt me tell you its hel[].. everything about the scatepark for those weeks of trying were tailwhips..! i would try it about 150 times a nite and only do that trick pretty much..and i still dont have them on lock..i have to try and tyry to get them still!...not as much but im not super consistant! and i have been tryin them for a while..i recomend if u feel ready..put some mats down on the top of a 6ft quarter and just try to whip there so u can fall onto mats and or use foam if accessable.. that still sucks tho..getting in and out!..but..i would think u should be at about an intermediate level..should be able to flow around and do some trick DONT make this your 1st trick to try on the 6ft quarter..u need to know how to jump onto the 6ft....
Have barspins and no foot can cans dialled before you move onto whips.

you need certain tricks down to be able to have the confidence to an extent.
i learned how to do them on a trampoline bike, but once i get on my bike, i cant get the feet back on, i cant superman, i cant no footer, or can can, never tried because i dont think they look that good.
the first while you do it, your gonna be trying to force the frame around, when really you just need to finess it around.
you should be riding for about a year before you start trying, because you need alot of confidence and control over your bike

I dont think you need to be riding for a certain amount of time. Ive been riding for about a month now, and only been to the skatepark for a few weekends, and I have started trying them. I dont see where the confidence is needed, you just get a lot of speed, kicked the bike, pump with your arms and stay above the bike....mind you I can't land them, but It never hurts when I try...

yea i only been bmxing for 7 months and i say to my friend "im gonna do a tailwhip" and smiled. he was like whatever so i go over to the quater, jump and spin my bike, smash myself in the knee and fall hard on the ground. i then said"im gonna go back to disasters". dont let this discourage u though:P

They are different tricks, but barspins are good for teaching you to time a catch, not freak out when part of your bike is spinning seperate to you, and so on.
learn them when ever you feel confertable with your bike spinning below you and then having to catch your bike and get your feet right on the pedals. i tryed them like 2 years ago a lot, but then i gave up after i landed one footed on my peg and sprained my ankle really badly. you just need a good jump to try them off of. i liked to try them of box jumps and just landing on top of the box.

no foot can cans help, ive only been riding 7months and i can catch my frame or land on the seat, ive caught the pedal before also and ive only been trying them 2months tops, i guess some people find it easier to find their balance for whips alot quicker than others
