its suppose to be done on the edge of whatever your stalling on. coping, ledge edge, etc.. So essentially you do have to hop onto the edge, i mean you could try to pedal real fast to get up and onto the edge but its easier hopping ontop of the edge. This will aslo compress all your weight ontop that one spot instead of moving forward.

I'm mad at fufs and boobs, my brakes have new pads and aren't broken in yet so my brakes wont stick good enough...I've never been able to ge tthem down though. I always do something wrong. I'll stick with disasters and nothings for now.

Just a smidge higher up and it would have been perfect.
The whole hopping in and out of the trick adds to the coolness factor, but I don't think it means it's not done correctly if you don't do it. In other words, as long as you ride away without touching, you did the trick. The other stuff ia all just minor tweaks to dial it in and make it look that much cooler.

Simple answer is no............... Fufs and Abubacs can be done by rolling into them, thats how they are taught so it must be the trick otherwise you teach them to include a hop at the start.

The only 2 real reasons why I can think you need a hop are

a) cos you landing on something like a ledge, box, back-rail, etc
b) its helps place the wheel and apply the pressure allowing you to compress for the pop-turn exit (Fuf) or hop back to claer the edge (abubaca)

Rolling up to the top of a bank and popping out is sometime harder tah hopping the last few inches into it.

i find i always hit my front wheel now when i land my back wheel on the coping because i actually like hold it where as others at my local hop on and off really quick..how can i avoid hitting my front wheel all the time?

your have to hop backwards, than you should clear your front tire better.

Yer, I suck at getting abubacas on coping, but i can nail them when I hop onto a ledge, then pop back...weird. I have trouble holding the brake as I ride downhill, and as a skill we need to use only one finger on the brakes, so I can't really take 2 fingers off the grips, if i do, I faceplant.

I remember when people used to do abubacas on the deck, instead of the coping :o I still think it's rad, because it's harder to get back into the ramp.

ive got the bubacas basicly dialed but the fufanus are really hard to me.

for getting back out into transition so you dont case your front wheel takes a little time. ive wrecked a few times casing my front wheel. ive also had my back wheel slip out on a bubaca too wasnt too bad since it was on a metal 1/4

pretty much broke it in 3 different places. my brakes unlocked in mid trick and i wasnt ready to come out of othe stall yet.
