Do you ever want to move somewhere else, but don't want to at the same time because of your family? Well, theat's how I feel now. Why I don't like to live here:
-high taxes (50% of income)
-expensive houses ($450,000 - $500,000 for a 4 bdr. house with average lot size)
-expensive insurance premiums ($500/month)
-the fact that I have to have insurance.
-very corrupt state govt.

Why I like it here:
-very good schools
-tons of jobs that pay well
-good seasons
-almost entire family lives here
-very good hospitals

Can you guess where I live?

^No way! You live in MA? You must be way out by the NY border like everyone else on this forum who lives in Massachusetts.... :(

I was going to guess Massachusetts. Yeh, the taxes here are high and the house are expensive. Once the house market crashes... Hehe, then you can get a new house.

No matter WHAT do not move to FL, there are enough people here already, and %70 refuse to speak English. Houses are INSANELY priced, education quality is laughable, and the Northerners/Europeans in the winter time will drive you absoultely INSANE with their driving and b*tching.

Those bad drivers are from Massachusetts. :P All the guys in NH hate us for our driving.

Yeah, it is expensive to live here, but I think it's worth it. I like the north east.

If you let more immigrants in from other countries the hispanics wouldn't think that they deserve special privledges.

I live in iceland its ok i guess

Cons

Lame weather

Prices are above everything, a 300$ frame in the U.S would be like 600$ here.

Its small

Pros

Education is good

And medical support or W/E is good.

Good water you dont have to buy it here lol

Cops dont harrass you here like i have heard in the US.

You don't pay for water? That's rad. I hate the concept of people owning the very thing that gives life.

Iv'e always wanted to move to Europe, maybe Norway or Sweden. It just seems like they habe their shit together over there (or moreso than here).

billytalentisshweet
03-15-2007, 05:08 AM
They do. I would move there but their winters never see day light. It's bad enough only haveing like 6 hours here most of the winter, I couldn't imagine how bad that would be. So I think I'll stay here, maybe move to Vancouver or Toronto or something.

what the ****, 50% of income?
move here, we have our shit together apart from the retardedly high charges for technology(u.s gets flatrate broadband for 25us$ and we pay 50 bucks a month(us!) for 10gb cap....gahh)
i cant even get broadband at my house. blah.
we didnt send troops to iraq therefore no terrorist attacks(hopefully)

Sending in troops has nothing to do with terrorist bombings, the madrid bombings anyone? *unless spain has soldiers over there*

That's only in northern parts of Norway and Sweden. And in Northern parts of Sweden and Norway there aren't any good cities or even towns to live in.
But i'm going to move to Sweden's capital or some big city in there when i'm in legal age. I hate Estonia.

Why ?
*Corrupt government
*Medical care or w/e sucks.
*"Cities" are so small. (Our whole country is smaller than NYC with it's other parts as Queens and so on)
*Our incomes aren't so good, but not very bad either
*Crime rate is high
*There are more deaths than people born

Well there are a few pros too :)
*We only have to pay 22% of our incomes to government and in 5 years it will be only 18% ( lowered 1% per year till 2011)
*One of largest BMX competitions in Europe is held in our capital (Simple Session)

Lucky.. The taxes here are so high. I hope I can afford to live here when I'm older. A family of 5 people needs at least $80,000 per year to get by here.

I don't know if I'd want to live in Sweden, but if I could stay there for 6 months with my family, I'd do it.

billytalentisshweet
03-20-2007, 02:05 AM
Yeah, taxes seem rough when it comes out of your pocket but you have to remember that it's going to good things. I would be willing to guess that your crappy healthcare and whatnot is because of not having enough tax money to pay for health care.

Zero Cool
03-20-2007, 02:48 AM
Maybe 2% of it does. This state is so corrupt, it's not even funny. You still have to pay for health care on top of that which is about $700/month. The only people who get to go to the hospital for free are illegal immigrants. Our roads are terrible too. The easiest way to tell if you're in NH is to look at/feel the roads when you're driving. Their roads are nice and smooth with very few potholes. Here there are potholes everywhere. It's great for your car. Our wonderful new governor, Mr. Deval Patrick, recently spent like $20,000 "updating" his office. Then he went out and got himself a nice new $50,000 caddy.

Those of us who live/right outside of Boston are notoriously aggressive (in a bad way) drivers. Most of southern NH is populated by people from MA who flee there, but when you go up north towards the White Mountains, they like to call us Massholes. :hihi: Get it? It's asshole but with an 'M' in front to make it like 'Mass' which used to be the abbreviation for Massachusetts.

You know that Sweden and Norway have maybe about 10 or less (not sure about the number) kills in year. (I maybe wrong but i'm 80% positive about this)

Taxes here suck, it's real hard getting by aswell the government are failing there objectives, this "Tax cut" is good but how long before it's rose again guys? this david cameron guy sounds like a dickhead, sorry for the bad language but increasing taxes to stop pollution? MORE LIKE FOR A BIGGER WAGE >=[

Also the threat of MRSA the superbug as our hospitals are crap, you'd think this country wouldn't be so bad, ooo it is.

Some of the taxes here are put to good use, but most aren't. An example of good use is cleaning out the Charles River and the Harbor. There was like 15 feet of heavy metals at the bottom of the River.

The town I live in is probably the most mismanaged town in MA. They want a prop two and a half override. Prop2.5 was passed 20 years ago and it said that your property tax couldn't be more than 2.5% of your house's value. There is a town that 5 miles away from me that overrode it 5 years ago. The woman who proposed the override found out that she couldn't afford to live there after her taxes went up. Haha what a moron.

They threaten to cut sports at the high school, which isn't really a problem. If kids want to play sports, their parents can pay for it individually. My town isn't exactly wealthy, but if you can afford to live here, you should be able to afford $600 per year so that your son can play football or so your daughter can do gymnastics or cheer leading.

You guys in the UK have the hell taxed out of you. Do you have a percent of roughly what amount of your annual income goes to the government?

Well, i live in Dunstable, England, next to the 4th worst place to live in the UK (Luton) i meen seriously, its crap. Went to a crap 3 ramp skaterpark, and got chased out 3 mins later by 4 black kids with knives (not being racist, just stating) I meen i know not all black people are like that, nearly had my bike nicked 4 times by some 12 yr old chav with no teetch, its just that some are weird and really are scary. Also, cops, f*ck me, they tell us not to ride on pavements, then when riding on the rode tell us to have our bikes road legal, WTF are we suposed to do. Pub owners, kick us off their suposed "land", even though its in the town centre. Apprently we're scaring off customers.. not us, they just no its a *** bar. If they gave us somewhere to ride, fair enough, thats what they are doing end of this year, (£80,000 skatepark) but as soon as its open, chavs will be in there as its a new place to be, and skaters will get pissed off because they got a bloody tour around the uk to design it practically for skaters, not bmx-ers, so we're pissed off about that. Old people, think they own the place because they have been here 60years.. Asians (again im sorry if i sound racist, most of my friends are black and asian) but taxi drivers, they really do piss me off. Got in a fit with one because i was riding on the rode and he didnt want to go round me so he basically charged into me. The amount of chavs and "rude bois" as they call themselves that think its clever to break into peoples house and ruin their lives. Past 4 months, 5 mates of mine have had their bike nicked from inside thier own house. I would much rather live in the country side, and ride 10miles to school everyday, rather than live in a shite town, ride 3 miles a day, and have the threat of your bike being nicked at the end of it.

You want expensieve houses, try the UK!! In an average area, you're looking at about £200,000 (about $400,000) for a remotely good semi detached house, maybe 3 or 4 bedrooms, with a small ish garden.

So Cambridge across the pond is expensive? Cambridge, MA is really expensive too, if it's not the most expensive in Massachusetts. The cheapest houses go for around $800,000-$900,000 and the most expensive are the ones on the Charles River. They're like $5M+. Before Jonny Damon left the Red Sox, he bought one. It must be nice to have money...

Water is free. But the facilities to either filter it and put it in a bottle, or filter it and pump it to your house is not free. Or else no one would do it, cus it would cost them a shitload for you to have water.

And I think he was talking about buying drinking water from the store because the tap water was good enough... maybe not though... idk.

I don't know why people would even want the Olympics coming to their city. It's like a freaking world wide diplomatic school yard popularity contest.

I guess the homeless and hungry people dying in the streets right now don't matter to the government. As long as we have our pools and running tracks.
