Soo, what are some laws that you think the gov. has no right making?

Rules
-Any Country
-Debate is allowed
-No Flaming Whatsoever, Everyone is allowed to think what they want.
-Keep it on topic. Please.

Example...
Seatbelts. Land of the free, but USA is governing us like were 3 year olds. (yeah, I know its a State law) We all know what seatbellts do, we all know what the consiquences are. We all know the facts. Whether I decide to wear my seatbelt or not does not in any way make a difference to any other driver on the road. If USA is the land of the free, why can they govern wether or not we wear seatbelts.

your turn.

I think it's silly that it's illegal to ride bikes on the sidewalk. It's too dangerous for a bike to have to ride on the road with cars/trucks etc.

Sure, people would bitch about idiots not taking care around pedestrians, but they could enforce that instead. A motor vehicle & bike collision would lead to more carnage than bike & pedestrian collision.

Front license plate laws in some states and not in others. In Ohio the law requires all vehicles to have a front plate and in cincinnati and surrrounding areas the ticket on it is $100. And why is it the only people recieving these tickets drive Nissans, Mitsus, Hondas and not corvettes. If its a law enforce it upon everyone.

Yeah I think a lot of laws are messed up, If I want to die in a car crash due to having no seat belt thats my business.

^^^ doubt anyone would want that but i understand what you mean, i think Cannabis should be legalised, i don't smoke it myself but its the consumers problem with cancer and memory lose, doesn't effect anyone around them unless they're doing them selves, though publically it shouldn't.

hah, i was expecting you to say legalise it..and sadly the land of the free is not so free anymore. but meh. lets stay on topic for once haha

copyright laws without a doubt...did you know when you buy a the average CD for 25$, about five bucks goes to the artist? the rest goes to the label + studio charges etc(which the label more than likely owns and has put a markup on)..and yet the labels bitch about people burning/downloading music.

i only disagree with that law with regard to music though. if you have a cool idea or design or whatever, it should be exclusively yours.

Laws that make you pay for insurance! Also social security too. Why can't I just go pay the doctor $3,000 to have an operation instead of having to deal the the insurance companies? Also, why should I pay for some illegal immigrant to get a free operation if he/she needs it? The same goes for car insurance. Can't wait till I have to pay taxes...

About the seatbelts: I dont want my insurance to go up because someone was badly hurt in a car crash because they didnt wear a seatbelt.

yeah, but why would your insurance go up because someone else crashed w.o a seatbelt on?

Unless its your car, you could make them wear a seatbelt or tell them to get out.

oh, and for some reason the council insists on fencing in our park, and its dangerous because people keep hitting the fences\
i dunno if thats a law but it is stupid

If you do not use a seatbelt when you are driving your flying body can hit the others in the car, or fly through the windsheild and hit someone outside the car. That's why there's a law, if you hit someone else in your car and kill them then you are voitlating their rights.

asd
03-12-2007, 01:43 AM
I'm pretty sure if your car is flipping, and spinning, and totally out of control, your body flying out of the car and hitting someone else, or hitting someone in your car is the least concern.
We've all heard stories about car crashes and people gettign launched because they didn't have their seatbelt, but I've never heard of someones body flying out of a car, and causing someone else damage...

In that case, BMX should totally be illegal, because what if you hit someone else? that would violate their rights...

i guesswhen riding street thats called wrecless bicycling lol.

i agree with bikes on the side walk legalizing. more then one have i had my chain snap in an intersection. more then once some dumbass almost took me out by merging blindly.

bikes may be considered vhicles but they dont have bumpers or explosive fule nor do they have internal combustion engines, AND they are much more manuverable because you dont usualy go 60 mph on ur 20".

canibis should be legalized

income tax should go to hell

landlords should't charge you $1000 to rent a tiny appartment.

SUVs must be illegalized for ever and nukes also

jawn
03-12-2007, 12:30 PM
hah, i was expecting you to say legalise it..

That is what I'm saying. It's just that people bitch about people on bikes on the footpath, so to get 'em off our backs there could be certain laws eg: give way to pedestrians.

True, but there's still the fact that you can hit other people in the car and it does happen.

Hmm I guess thats right Punk_Porcupine... If I accidently crash into a moving vehicle at a decent speed, I hope they follow the seat belt law because if they are injured badly (Probably from not wearing a seat belt) they will probably sue me.

punk_porcupine
03-12-2007, 10:27 PM

No seatbelt = going through the windscreen. More injuries and damage to the car = bigger insurance claim. The more people that claim on insurance the more the premiums go up for everyone.

stopping at a stop sign at a FULL stop

wearing a helmet on a bike

being able to sue if you trip on someones sidewalk that is messed up

baabaablacksheep
03-13-2007, 01:15 AM
I don't think stopping at a stop sign is bad. I see way to many idiots just fly through intersections that have stop signs.

The non-existing law that makes me pay an income tax.

kickemos1664
03-13-2007, 02:05 AM
why do you pay it if its non existent.

here in canada it is actualy a legit law

a little off topic but its about stupid people sueing unreasonably

in school we are learnong about risks and such and dude who was in a car accident talked to us today. He got hit from behind by a drunk bitch at 160 km/h and his car flew into the intersection and was hit from the side with 100km/h. he sustained critical injusries to his brain, leg, internal organs ect. After the crash the woman who rearended him tried running away. Nt such luck. It has been about a year since he has been in the crash. he can walk on acain now. He has bad memory damage and cant do his job to support his new family. Doctors say that he will almost not be able to play with his kids.

So what does the drunken bitch do? She is suing him for the damege of her car when SHE was the one who rear ended him because of impared driving.

Is this realy acceptable to be able to legay go as far as try to skrew someone over when you were the one at fault?

Why is the law always have to be in black and white?
Why cant people ever use ther fukin brains and not try to get so much money all the time?

Is Canada becoming like USA with it being totaly controled by capitalistic corporate cut-throat shitheads?

I agree with CoolAidGuy. People should be controled as how far they can go within the legal system for their own profit.

the guy was just driving home from work after a 13 hour day and now he gets around with a cane and has gone through hell with his operations.

billytalentisshweet
03-13-2007, 05:06 AM
I don't think she's actually going to be able to sue him. She was at fault for the accident.

Income taxes are used for good things. Like that public skatepark you love so much.

PhoenixBMX
03-13-2007, 07:50 AM
yeah, the sueing people is messed up. it seems like you can do anything with a decent lawyer now...hahah its not like that here. yet.
hahaha speaking of things that are legal, nz is the one of the only places where you can legally buy these.. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BZP) haha i have to try them before they criminalize them

yeh cops wont go into a skate park unless its an emergency,

a cop told me that when i told him theres druggies at our skatepark

billytalentisshweet
03-16-2007, 05:11 AM
Cops come into ours all the time, it's right next to their station. Doesn't stop it from getting spray painted and doesn't stop the drugs being dealed though. They only come in to hassle the bikers about helmits and to break up fights.

I disagree with the law LA passed that makes it illegal to feed homeless people.

03-16-2007, 10:24 PM
Haha really? poor homeless people. That is a seriously messed up law.

Zero Cool
03-17-2007, 12:59 AM
Can't feed homeless people? What kind of law is that? If you give them cash, they might spend it on drugs, but why wouldn't you be able to buy them some soup of it's cold outside or water if it's hot? Not that it's ever cold in LA...

Have to wear a helmet till your 16. The cops in my town don't really care. It's mostly cops neighboring towns. 7 more days... Then those pigs can suck my dick.

mcdan
03-17-2007, 02:05 AM
in new jersy you have to wear a helmet till your 17.
it used to be 14 but a week after i turned 14 they chang it to 17.

the sidewalk law... we have that here, $5 ticket, and then when you ride in the road, you have to use traffic signals like putting your hand up to turn like an idiot... and your supposed to ride in the traffic lane.... the bike cops do it, and it pisses me off cause im in 1st gear going 10mph over the bridge...

another, is you cant wear headphones when your jogging, running, riding, skating or anything... because you cant hear people.... if u need to hear a car coming at you when your jogging on the sidewalk... then the driver has issues

here the cops are dicks most of the time.

the retiring cop is now the chief of police, and he sits at the skatepark for hours upon hours in his new unmarked police car.. he even parks in 3 spots sideways... just to make sur eno bikes are in the park... although he lets us ride most street spots... kicks skaters out and leaves us, unless we ride all the good spots, then they circle us and flip out :hmm:

FOXBMX
03-17-2007, 03:20 AM
^here the cops dont care if you ride on the sidewalk, or cross with out signals, or anything. i was riding along on my bike, and i crossed the street, just gliding across slowly at a random point in the street(aka jaywalking) and it did it right infron of a cop. and then i did the same thing back to teh opposite side of the road again(just zig saging across the road) and he didnt care at all.

haha that's ****ed up. I got hassled about riding with an MP3 player, but it was easily countered by asking "then how do deaf people survive?" :>

ummmmmm the cops here dont do shit i mean yesterday i was riding in the middle of the street then i went into the middle of the lane to the right and made like 15 cars swirve by me and 1 was a cop and he didnt do shit
and then later i saw the same cop and i was thinkin he was gonna stop me but then i cut right out in front of him no more than 10 feet in front of him and he didnt do shit

40 euro fine if you ride without working lights over here

see here... the ticket for no lights on a bicycle is about the same $$ amount as a ticket for going 80 in a 70 :hmm:

my skatepark ticket for riding int he park was $63.20 and he said he was going to confiscate my bike next time.. my brothers speeding ticket was $70

here bikers get more tickets than drug dealers basically... its a daily thing... the kids that do drugs just walk around like cops are no problem, while us bikers have to look 360* and make sure theres no cop so we can do a few tricks and stop and look again... its complete bullshit, then when we do see a cop we have to stop and sit down and act like we werent riding

Buhiko

couldn't of said it better myself, over here we get HARRASED by police every two minutes... i haven't had a day of riding yet without having to deal with them...

but i always win, this is how one conversation went:
hey, i have to request for you guys to leave
'why?'
this isn't a playground
'we aren't playing'
this is a place for cars only
'but you aren't in a car'
this isn't a place to hang around
'we aren't doing drugs, i don't see the big deal'
i have to request you to leave now
'i don't see any kind of sign or warning stating i cannot ride a bike here'
i'm going to ask you one more time...
'alright we're leaving... go do something useful like busting crack dealers'
what did you say
'i'm leaving for gods sake'

i left, that cop REALLY annoyed me and i could of gotten into a lot of trouble...
anyway... i have gotten one ticket for riding without lights before

About the seatblets do you think cops enjoy scraping your brain off the road?

Stupid no bike on sidewalk bullpoo I don't obey it and my excuse is that stupid drivers being as holes and telling me to get off the road.

Now me and my friends bike around like we are cars annoying the piss out of people.

Buhiko did you go to court?

Around here if I got a ticket I dought the cop would even show over a dum light so I may aswell show up for court.

I think all drugs should be legalised.
I only have the odd toke of a spliff but if it was cheap and easily available in chemists etc, it would reduce crime because people don't need to resort to crime for drug money if its 10p a zoot do they?
