I was wondering: what do you think about riding brakeless in park? Do you really need brakes in park? When I mean, park, I mean and fairly large skatepark...
thanks

People ride brakeless everywhere...if you have bike control and you are aware of your surroundings, you'll be fine...

it all depends on your skill and how you watch, of course when your brakeless you have to watch out more.
if your new to riding, dont ride park brakeless because you wont have control and you probably will run into everyone.

last time i was at my park it was crowded really bad, like 1/2 of the riders were brakeless... no problems, it's all about bike control, personally i prefer back brake for park, makes alot more tricks possible

i ride without brakes in a park but it depends on your style

i love brakeless park, well my park on the day i usually go, is pretty much empty, 5 people at the very most in the daytime.
you can just flow around so much and it makes you a lot smoother i think, and before people ask i've ridden park with brakes a lot and i prefer brakeless, there's nothing i won't hit brakeless you've just gotta have your wits about you and plan where you're going next

yeah i know, what cant you do without brakes? i learned footjam fufs. and for little kids, just watch out. i love the skateboarders who dont look where there going because a bike vs. skateboard usually ends up the bike is at least 10 pounds heavier(mike hardman is an exception) that the skateboard. so us bikers can thrash them and they dont even care. for riding park brakless if you are going fast and are going to land flat, land back tire first. ive been practiceing doing stuff to flat, and that doesnt kill your wrists. also a person named sean burns told me that it works.

Sean Burns is the ultimate none trend whore and a huge hucking mofo! haha
Anyways Brakeless park is fun, I actually have more fun with it then I had when I had brakes, idk why I just do.

Like no footed variations of stuff you'd normally use pedal pressure or foot jam, controlling speed without using feet, leverage, etc. Let's not pretend brakes are completely useless.

no brakes plus busy park=little kid or stupid old kid getting hurt.
otherwise i would i only use it for stopping when people go in front of me
just to slow down.

learn to pump everything. it will help you slow down and speed up without using brakes or puting your foot on the ground/in the tire

I ride an insanely crowded park on fridays without brakes. If you know the ramps and ur bike you'll be fine. I've never run over some kid because I didn't have brakes.

i ride park brakeless with 2 pegs. but pegs replace brakes because if i used brakes it'd be a gyro and i wouldn't have pegs.

I like my brakes for park. I can't do tailtaps or abubacas without brakes. If we had no parks here I would probably ride brakeless.

not logical because this isn't about weight but about stopping before you hit someone and when brakeless that might be harder for some people

friday nights at the park is insane, about 6 of the best riders in the area all riding brakeless at the moment. last friday frank and josh slamed into each other, and franks front peg ripped out almost all of joshs' front spokes :)

i ride brakes but im not that good so its kinda safe
no brakes at parks is better, then you dont puss out, i used to ride brakeless, untill recently i found the urge to ride with brakes, my park has alot of little kids so its partialy better, i just dont ride with any fingers on the brake lever
that way i dont use em unless someones in the way, or i really need too
I hate riding park without brakes. They have saved me soo many times from running into kids, and i would have crashed plenty of times from having to much speed. i feel like i have more control with them.

ive learn alot from riding brakeless at the park, when i flyout onto a quarter i can antipump to stop so i dont go really high and kill someone. i also do this for hips n shit. if u do this with brakes it looks crappy and isnt as smooth. although i just learnt a couple of no/1foot sorta things and with no brakes n it wud be easier if the pedals didnt move.

my old Eastern frame had messed up welds for the brake mounts so they didn't work worth crap, so i ended up taking them off, then i snapped that frame (luckily it was free), and the first gen Bullitt I've been riding had the brake mounts hacked off the chainstay, so i've been brakeless for close to 2 years riding everything from street, park to dirt.
it's not a real big deal if you know how to shift your momentum to slow down and what not...
