OK first off, this is not recommended by most people but if you liek loud casettes ( like me) then this mod is for you!
OK! lets get started:
Step 1: Take your back rim off of your bike and take the nut on the driver side off.
Step 2: Take the nut off the front of the driver so that the driver will slide out of the hub shell and off the axle.
Step 3: Pull off the driver. If it has never been taken off, it might be hard to get off but just give it a few tugs and it shoudl come right out.
Step 4: Take off the spring/round clip that holds the pawls in place and make sure you dont lose them, keep them on a paper towel so you dont get things greasy like i did.
Step 5: Take the round clip and put your fingers on either side of the open end and push to were it bends it and makes the open end overlap a small bit.
Step 6: Now that you have bent it in it puts more tension on the pawls so they spring up harder and make your casette louder. Now just re-install the pawls and make sure they all are sticking up, slide the driver back on the axle and back into the hub shell, put back on the nut that holds the driver on, and stick the wheel on your bike and go ride!:D
Use very little or no grease inside and make sure it is a very fine bassed grease like Finishline Wet XC Lube.
Although it makes your casette louder, it may wear down the shell a bit faster but not by much, youll be fine if you do it no worries.
