We have 2 that COULD do something. And only 1 is coming anytime soon(2015 I belive it is), but it won't hit us. Just close to use, between us and the moon.

Problem is if it gets knocked out of it's orbit by gravity. Then in I belive 2036 when it comes this way agian...it would be an issue.

But, by then we should have a way to deal with them in place.

Discovery Channel and another channel like it here(houston) said it's likely. The funny part is they have it down to a day and time it will be able to be seen. It happens to be a Friday the 13th. Isn't that odd?

You got it wrong, the only asteroid capable destroy 100% life isn't even in the Milky way, its atleast gonna "hit in 2888" i watched a documentary on it, asteroids will hit earth but none that could be Doomsday.

One method would be the chain nukes which means they send astronaughts out onto the asteroid and they plant nukes in a ring around it. They detonate the first nuke and as the asteroid rotates another nuke will be facing the same way the first one did and it will eplode. That should push it far enough to miss us but its unlikely. And theres this scale that rates metoroids and there are none near us that will hit us and be more than my science teacher says "Local" disasters. If you believe in the theory that the moon was formed by a large collision then you wont be someone who thinks the earth will blow up if an asteroid hits us.

The comet doesn't even have to hit earth to cause mass destruction. NASA has all sort of stuff set up in the south pole, but they aren't telling anyone what they are looking at.

Someones being watching to much Armagedden, for one how can they tell its going to hit us as for one we're in orbit whats the chances of this "Asteroid" hitting us in one of the 365 days of orbit, to me it sounds bizarre all i know is that scientist's make these bizarre accusations and none of them happen.

Im just being skeptic. NASA or other space agency group are making plans how to deal with the potential asteriod heading towards or near Earth such as Gravity 'tugging' not sure how that work, and some "primitive" explosives to knock the asteroid off orbit narrowly avoiding Earth, expect some showers.

Yeah i know but there is some people who see it as the end of the world its a definative its going to hit us, i highly doubt its gonna come anywhere near us. and no there it's 1 in about 21 cause you have to include moons and the planets in our solar system for all we know Jupiter's gravity may pull it in. no one seems to think about these things, and yeah asteroids do have metal, they usually have copper and iron in them and some other crazy stuff. Just chill out and live life to the max we dunno if its going to hit us yet, if it's on a collition course with us well then, get laid, try that thing you wanted to do, beat the shit out of your most hated person just don't winge about it. Alright I dont watch armagedden and I dont know what it is... My science teacher told us that. And its not going too fast to get on it is it? If you match the speed of it and get out of the shuttle your momentum will keep you going because there is no friction in space. The nukes wouldnt blow it up but they would push it. A nuclear blast would push it off just the tiniest bit, then as it rotated the next one would push it a little bit more in the same direction, and then it keeps going all the way around and it may push it off just enough.

To be honest, How likely is it to hit us in its direct orbit? very unlikely espeically what you said, its more likely to be dragged into jupiters atmosphere by its gravity. And yeah as long as i have landed a double tailwhip, got laid, gone to woodward and have general fun let it hit.
