Any tips about riding the quarterpipe? i keep catching my back wheel on the coping and faceplanting into the pavement... this has happened 4 times now ( thank jesus for full faced helmets ) and i'm almost starting to get scared of riding it because i fall, get up and try it again just to enjoy another faceplant. a buddy said that you have to bounce your front tire off the coping to vertically center you in the air but when i do this i catch my tire:x

when i actually get air off of it i can't stay vertical, i always end up moving onto the top of the QP, kinda like jumping out of the bowl, even when i lean back as far as i feel i can without wheelying into it

Jump away from the coping. Do a bunnyhop and tuck your back end. Maybe you'll land flat, then you know you shouldn't tuck that much:wink:

tuck, and sorta nosedive into the quarter with your back end tucked

this is what i was doing and all my buddys say you shouldn't have to bunny hop. this is what a have been doing all along and i always caught the coping when i found the courage to go fast enough to get any air off of it

Then you're doing something wrong. Maybe don't go so fast. I had some hangups when I learned airs, but that was because I didn't bunnyhop from the coping. How big is the quarterpipe?

Maybe the quarter you're trying on isn't vert enough.

When you reach the coping, don't hop, just sort of lift the front wheel out and then tuck when you come back in.

the quarterpipe isn't really that big and i'm am surethat i'm not going too fast, today i did a little better when i thought about when you said to jump away from the coping. the Qp is maybe 6-8 feet tall.

wait i dont know if ur going IN a qp or OUT a qp. if ur going in then just do a nose dive like what 720 up there said. if ur going out than thats just weird catching ur tire on the coping.

don't know how to put this if there isn't a word for it. I'm riding straight at the Qp trying to get air and get straight back down without catching the coping
