View Full Version : [HowTo] Newspaper Paintjob
first i started by stripping all the parts of it down to the frame. then i sanded al of it until it was really smooth. useing clag glue (recommended for paper mache) i completley paper mache'd the entire frame, useing big pieces for the big bits of the frame and small strips for the tricky bits. its good to have the paper nice and wet from the glue,so it's easy to shape the paper, and fit into the hard bits on the frame. not to wet though as it may ause the newspaper to tear. after about 3 layers of newspaper its pretty much as thick as you'd want to get it. next i would use a see-through clear gloss spray paint to cover the bike. it's best to stay 30cm away from the bike so you dont get drips or runs. just a nice mist of the stuff all around. another three coats for this aswell, all this took me three weeks but it's entirely up to you how quickly you want to do it and how much time you'd waste on it.

yup, me too
could you do it with everything? I mean like paint backround to ex. yellow, then put some kind of decals/sticker's/whatever on it, then clearcoat it and it looks like it was painted on it? :D
dont know, probally, try it on an old frame or sumthin

you could maybe try painting your frame white and make a stencil of newspaper font, but i dont think it would come out all too good

You can just spray your frame with spray adhesive and then stick any paper(stickers, news paper, ect) on it. The shoot on a coat or 2 of clear...and your done.
It's called decropadge(sp) and is done all the time in wood working type projects. I have a trunk with old maps on it...looks cool. But 1 layer is MORE than enough.

This is a very old trick. I remember reading about it when a kid stuck porn on his frame and forks. It was great.

I was just thinking of a new paint scheme and I decided newspaper or glitter and glitters too messy and I'll get bits in the bearings and kill everything so I've opted for newspaper.
I have my PVA glue and newspaper but I'm not stipping my bike.
It should be waterproof when the glue dries and when I have time I might laquer it.
Rihgt off I go to try it out on the forks.

Your signature and posts always seem to be either pretending to buy parts or making excuses for your negative rep.

You are just gluing paper of some sort to your frame, all you need is a mental image! :D And stop bringing this thread back, I am certainly tired of seeing it pop back up in my damn subscribed threads! :D
