what? the more you ride the more style you'll get, the biggest attributes of style imo are balance and bike control (yeah i know technically they could be considered the same) and since you're doing jumps i think i'd focus on bike control.

Just try moving the bike about in the air.... turn the bars and steer the bike back into the ramp, kick the back end out but do it smooth and fluid (no snapping it, all stiff legged and what not - ugly).

Style come sfrom within the rider (sounds knobbish I know) but when someone is flowing and feeling it then the style will come out.

:)

Paypal me $1000 and I'll magically wish style upon you. It's a $1500 value, so I'd do it right away if I were you.

Lol quite agreeable

Anyway the only way to improve your "style" is to ride as often as possible and then it will just come naturally to you. I couldnt whip or anything earlier this year and i just kept jumping then i was gradually getting better and better.

Hope that helped.

Learn to jump spines with a little carve. That will help you take it to regular jumps after you get it dialed. But knowing how to jump straight is important too, because to do variations in the air you usually have to jump straight.

people say kind of whipping out in the air gives more style, its easy to learn over spines

Not easy to learn over spines. Its the other way round. You need to be able to whip out to learn spines properly.

yes I keep quoting you because you give wrong advice and make stuff up.
I'm not just doing it on here for the fun of it. I just don't want some poor kid try to do a spine so they learn how to whip out the back end and end up breaking their neck.
I quoted you last time because you said you had bought a federal frame and then the next minute you had bought a sunday frame :?
I quoted you the other time because I was confused as you asked for a 360 tap How-to, and then told everyone you can hop 360 a day later.
Realize I'm not just trying to prove you wrong. I just didn't understand anything you had posted on this forum.
I haven't done it to annoy you but it seems you are pretty wound up about it I must say.
Enough said.

rofl... so airbournedude is a poser? or a wannabe?
that has made me cry :'(

anyway, dunno if it's any help but with freerun it's important to just go with the flow, don't focus on doing the trick, focus on doing the trick smoothly

i dunno... i'm useless at describing how to do stuff :S

It made me cry too. Yes, I think he likes to presume that he is better than he is. Maybe to get attention more on here?? When I have just as much respect for beginners who can't even bunnyhop so he won't get anywhere by posting fake pics and saying he can do this and that.

I know exactly what you meant in the last post, But what you said would apply more to freerunning and parkour which I think you meant.
I understand that as I used to freerun myself but I think the principle of those types of activities is to do it with style and fluidity. Therefore I think that for BMX, style comes when you repeat doing a trick many times and you will gain it naturally. At first focus on just doing the trick but then once you can do it well, do as Buhiko said and focus on doing it smoothly.

Style comes natural. Get your jump or what ever dialed then once you get comfertable turn the bars or tuck one of your arms.

rite this is ****ed now, i never said i could 3hop and said i could three in the air (e.g of a box)

i ordered an 05 federal hamilton frame and then my grandma gave me 100quid so i cancelled my order and bought a sunday frame

i find it pretty simple to whip on a spine but maybe you dont cz your different? jeez

also whoever said im bullshitting your kinda wrong, spine transfering isnt exactly hard and i never said a could hop 360

the pics were not fake as i sed about a gazillion times ill get the vid up when my mum goes back to work and can borrow a vid cam

also ross_j ive never seen any pics/vids of you so how do i know how good i am compared to u? post a vid and if you are ill admit it but i never said i was better than you did i? i dno maybe you are you are 3 years older than me

and no im not a poser or a wannabe im just trying to ride without people on my back btw bukiho do you even ride? cos your talking about freerunning so it makes me wonder

oh and 'utter nutter' when did i say ive 'just started' iv been riding about 5 months

I will post a video in the next couple of weeks then if you have decided that I said I was better than you. I don't remember saying that.
I'm not 3 years older. I've been 16 for half a year, So I'm less than 2 years older.
5 months is basically just started. Thers no point comparing what I can do to what you can do. I started riding when I was 12. 4 years ago. But took a year out last year.
Don't go saying that I say I am better than people as I've never said that to anybody.
I still don't understand why you keep stressing at me when lots of people said your pictures are fake.
I never said you couldn't spine transfer did I either.

ok, if you post a shot of the frame and post a vid, i'll eat my words and give you all your respect back

and if i didn't ride, then i would be on freerun forums and not bmx-forums ;)

anyway, i'll post a vid as soon as the lazy-ass cameraman stops playing video games and actually shoots a vid... bloody idiot :S

5 months is basically just started
i kinda half agree, i've been riding for about... maybe 3 months?
when i first got my bike i didn't ride untill i landed a fork glide and was like... awesome... so that was maybe a month after i got my bike?
but anyway, not been riding for long but i'm starting combos now, i agree it's 'just started' but not noob

man i hope i didn't confuse anyone, because i kinda confused myself... xD

can do will have a pic of the frame up to nite, bikecheck probly by tommorow (if my wheels + bars come) and when i can get hold of a cam which should be in the next 2 to 3 weeks

'just started' can vary depending on whos saying it. For example, to you, somebody who has been riding a week has 'just started' whereas someone who has been riding 10 years could say that somebody riding one year has 'just started'.
This way I said that AirBourneDude has just started because compared to the time I have been riding, its not a great amount. I have friends who have been riding half a year and they say they have just started. So it really depends.

I don't understand his problem with your mentioning of freerunning. Lots of people do more than one activity. You have only mentioned it in the NBR section and a very small amount in the style thread to relate techniques between bmx and freerunning.

^ he's just trying to make a statement, that i have no proof that i can do stuff, which is a pretty good point, because i haven't posted a single vid, and only one pic of a crappy barspin xD (camera died after i took one picture...)

anyway, i think i can relate, i've been freerunning for about a year now, and to me, 6 months is still just started, but it could be possible that they are better than me, but to me they only just started, but they're not noobs... if you can understand... because i don't understand it anymore... man i gave myself a headache... damn me and my self-confusion abilities...

yeah i started out just moving my bike in the air and getting the feel for things, the more i jump and do a half-ass flatty the more comfortable i get with it and i know soon i'll have it down. don't get too frustrated or discouraged cause you can't get something right and have fun with it

like freerunning i used to do things really sketchy then i focused on making everything fluent and now it looks awesome :D

Pretty much like everyone else said, go with the flow.

I think it's kind of natural though, because I have one friend that no matter what he does it looks ugly. It could be a super hard trick and his style (or lack thereof) will completely ruin it. When I ride I'd say I'm pretty smooth, and people have said that, but I don't really try to be stylish. Sure if I'm doing a table or something it's trying to have style, but the way you execute it depends partly on who you are, not just which way you turn your bars and bend your legs.

the way you execute it depends partly on who you are, not just which way you turn your bars and bend your legs.

i'm going to have to disagree on that one, i used to have no style, that's when i used to think too much, after a while i saw my friend doing a sketchy wall run, arms flailing around like a monkey...
it looked horrible, then he filmed me, to my suprise i saw i was doing the same!

so then i concentrated on flowing in and out of the move, aware of where my arms are, and now i have style :D
