Ok, I have seen countless of posts about how to barspin so today I tryed to actually feel how I do them...

First of all, they are easyest to learn on a flyout. This is also one of thoose
tricks that some people can do right away and that takes some people forever to learn (myself included)!

There is 1 key elemnt to this trick (the way I do it) and that's pinching your pedals/crank's with your feet, it's kind of hard to explain so just have that in mind and find yourself a position where YOU feel you have a good grip on your bike! As I said THIS IS THE KEY-PART to this trick!!!!!

1) Pop of as usual from the fly out, do NOT pop with everything you got as this will only make your front wheel going WAY to high for a beginner!

2) while in the air DO NOT stress and through the bars right away, you have to sort of wait for the right moment (you will feel this)

3) through the bars with one hand (in my case the right hand) while you are pinching the crank's/pedals with your shoes (In the beginning it's easyest to hold the footposition from before you enter the ramp)! This is the tricky part!

4)let the bars spin and DO NOT JUMP OFF IN PANIC! Most people (again myself included, panics the first couple of times and jumps off at this moment)

5) catch the bars with the non-throughing hand (in my case the left hand) this is pretty tricky and is something you can test and work on vail standing still before actually doing a barspin air!

6) Put your other hand on, land and ride away!

That is the step by step how to barspin without pinching the seat (witch most people have way to low for actuually pinching thease days)!

When you've learned barspins go checkout: ODENbikes - dedicated to bmx (http://www.odenbikes.com) and reward yourself with some new products!

this is a great how-to, wish i wouldve seen it sooner.
i tried bhop barspins in my garage and start by doing half barspins. just spinning the bars halfway so their backwards, this got confidence up. then after i felt comfortable i tried full ones, those are harder because the bars spin faster. get situated with half barspin flyouts first, and once u got those landed 99% of the time go for full ones.

is it better to learn them by throwing half barspins first?

No, it's not.

For me personally the "half-barspin" didn't teach me anything about real barspins, a half-barspin is just through and catch, no technique at all....
But as some have said it might boost the confidence for real barspins...

That How-to is pretty good (especially the part about keeping your body weight over the bars but your legs out of the way) but doesn't really explain the pinching part witch I am trying to explain here.

I tried these yesterday for the first time. I got the bars out of the way of my knees but everytime i threw them my front end dropped.

You need to (in one way or another) get a decent "grip" of your bike, personally I do that with a mix of footposition and a pinching-movement with my legs (allthough I do not actually pinch my seat)!

The balance point is also important along with throughing the bars in a fast but controlled motion! WHEN you through the bars is also important (while I learnt them I throughed them almost at the peak of my air, nowdays I spin the bars on my way "up")!

I dont pinch anything. Hop, and I throw as im leveling out or at peak of level. I throw normal with my left stick right hand out and catch the bar with my right at about 270 degrees and left hand goes on after it comes around. U dont need to pinch anything, whats more important is catching in the air. If u can catch them in the air u wont need to pinch trust me.

at 1st i tought you were carzy with the hole pinching the crank, but i just got done riding and it works. like with my foward foot i put my heel on the crank arm almost under it , and with my backfoot do the same with my toe. when you ride with your seat slamed,IT REALLY HELPS
