Well as the tiltle says "cleaning your rims for greater braking" that is what this article is about =). First off if you have black OR chrome rims this will help your brakes. It will help black rims more but it will also help chrome ones. THIS MAY MAKE YOUR BRAKES SQUEAK A LITTLE I`M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SQUAKINESS

What you are going to need

~A bottle of rubbing alchol or strong alchol (i used georgia vodka worked fine)
~Napkins (or a CLEAN rag)
~The ability to flip your bike upside down
~Sandpaper or a METAL File (only need if you have a black rim)

Well now that we have all supplies lets get started.

1st. Use your amazing ability to flip your bike over.
2nd. Take a napkin or rag and put ALOT of that alchol on it.
3rd. Take the saturated rag and rub up and down the sides of the rim (where the brakes pads hit) continue to do this until they look nice and clean (do this on both sides)
4th.Take a DRY rag and clean off all that alcohol, allow to AIR dry for about 30 minutes.

B.t.w if your brake pads are those shitty tektro ones take that file or sandpaper and shave the pad down until its smooth

from when i had anodized rims. simple geen works 50x better than alchol, plus if you leave alittle bit on the rim to dry, it will make em better too :]

i had black rims but, i polished them to take off all the black paint from the edge and now i use metal polish on my rims and the wheel locks with one finger and i have the most shitiest pads and brakes ever.

You know that is corrosive right? It is also sticky and will cause dirt and dust (ha same thing) to your rim. Just use some Vodka (better then rubbing alchol) or use
Simple green, I prefer the vodka though

Use Jack Daniels...I'm just kidding. I wouldn't waste it on my rim. Rubbing alcohol works fine for me, my brakes are usally pretty dialed.

nah man, soda works extremely well on a black rim. just wet the rim with it and let it dry. makes it extremely sticky. i noticed that orange soda worked better than coke or dr pepper.

Chrome- keep rims clean and dial your brakes. No tricks needed

Black/paint- softer pads(like Kool Stops), and keep your rim clean. Agian, no tricks needed

I stop perfect either way.

Some crap you have to order online then dilute it. Waste of time. Whisky ftw!

lol same, put the wipe under the brake pad, hold your brakes lightly enough so you can move the wheel, my chromes been noisy as tho ever since i did that or i need to re adjust my pads
