Practical? Have you ever been in an evo?

$30,000 Is also not practical for most teenagers.

Not to mention the insurance, or the fact that a very small percentage of new drivers don't wreck their first vehicle at least once. My freind just rolled his first truck saturday.

an example of one the ugliest mustangs ever produced......

TrikeKid
10-10-2006, 03:21 AM
^It's not a Mustang, it's a Mustang two, but I'm thinking with the 5.0 drivetrain, she scoots pretty good. Who cares if it's ugly if it's gone before you get a good look at it?

soad
10-10-2006, 03:31 AM
i dont think they are ugly at all. i would rather have a MII rather than a 64 1/2 mustang, 94-98 mustang, 65,66,67,68,71-73, and fox body convertable mustangs. but only the hatchback versions, not the ghia. thats ugly. and grande versions of the 69-70 mustangs.

and these things are really quite the sleepers. sure stock they came with like 122hp, but it was also a 5.0, with an optional 4 speed. so these things can make some balls to the wall power, and humble many things.

i've raced everything from SVT focus' to 421 GTO's, to GTX's, to 2nd gen camaros, third gen camaros, 4th gen camaros, but no 66-69 camaros.

i even raced a kawi gpz 500 from like...1988.

i lost to the GTX, the svt focus(totally human error on my part) and one 2nd gen camaro.

but yeah, they really are nice cars if you look at one in real life. you realize why the 77's are the 4th highest selling mustang produced.

My bike...

I found a 1971 (Or '72, can't tell) Super Beetle a couple miles from me. Good paint, no rust, partly restored. So long as I don't have severe rust around the floor pans or front strut mounts I'm ok, and there isn't. I might get a Rabbit or Rabbit pick up though, gotta love Mk. 1's.8)

Lol, should've known my dad doesn't know anything about cars. What about the suburu WRX? I personally like it.

Review and specs- Subaru Impreza WRX STi - RSportsCars.com (http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/impreza_wrx_sti.asp)

Specs look good to me, I don't actually need anything with dragster performance. Ijust dont want to end up driving my mom's toyota corolla but I also don't want to drive some riced up shit that drives worse than my mom's toyota. 35 grand is the most I'll spend on a car.

TrikeKid

35K is ridiculous for a first car, when you slam that STI into something, and your already ridiculous insurance doubles, you'll be wishing you had mom's corolla. Turning a 16 year old loose with 300 horse and handling to go with it is just a very, very bad idea. Do yourself a favor, buy something sub-3000 bucks, you'll be much less upset when you run it into something. That, or you could buy a truck, and build it up tank like like mine.

exactly, i got a 92 dodge dakota, prior salvage, radiator had a hole big enough you could ride ur bike through. went and ordered a new radiator, got new filters at walmart, some seafoam, and welded up a whole new muffler system, and put my 12"kicker in with a $30 wiring kit from walmart. bought the truck for $1200+200 radiator. exhaust costed me $20 so for $1450 it runs like a champ. its not fast by any means, tops out at around 120, i hit 119 and it wasnt going much faster. after that to see its limits i havnt gone over the speed limit. i know what my truck can and cant do, what it cant do, is take corners at 60mph, it can go off the road and over curbs though :hihi:

i cant buy a lift kit for it yet, cheapest i found and only one i found was 5 1/2" for $1900.. it wouldnt be fun to have a lift kit worth more than ur whole truck.

i see teenagers all the timew anting to race.. suvs, broken down 4 doors, and so on.. its just dumb. if im gonna roll my truck racing, itll be in the mud where the only thing ill hit is bottom of the mudpit

First time I tried I ended up on the ground and broke the clutch lever and bent the front brake lever. It's too bad they keep building houses down here. when my brother had his Honda way back when I was a toddler there were trails galore, now there's only 1 trail I can ride.:stinkefinger:

STI's are also very nice cars, But surly not practical for a first car. And please done spend 35K on your first car. If you really want awd turbo look into older style WRX's which can be had for around 10K. Great cars for everything. Small though. And if its the whole brand new car thing your wanting look at the VW rabbits. My friend got one and its a nifty car. Has some power to it too. Best thing is its relativly cheap for a new car. Around 14-15K

yeah, maybe 35 grand for a car is a waste of money. its weird, I see people where ever I go with $85,000 BMW's and $50,000 Corvettes, so 35,000 didin't really sound that much. I did consider buying something used, but there is a major problem with that. You have no idea how well the car was maintained by the owner. Some people never change their oil, they just add oil. others accelerate and turn like they're driving a formula one. And then they trade it in after like a year after they bought it, and you look at it and say, "wow, only 65k miles, and its only been driven a short time." When in fact, the owner abused it so much that most of the cars internal components such as the engine, transmission, etc. are on the verge of breaking down. You'll be surprised at how many people actually take goo care of thier car. But then again, used cars are cheap and easy to obtain.

Oh yeah, and our Corolla has almost 400k on it and has been eating up oil recently. This is like the first major problem we ever had with it, I swear that toyota make the most problem-free and dependable cars on the planet. I'm not really sure how long it will last though, that's why I'm looking into getting a car of my own.

unless u get a matrix/corolla xrs which has the same 6-speed 2zz-ge VVTL-i engine as the toyota celica GT-S had, and the lotus elise uses, which has 170hp @ 7600 rpm. pretty quick actually, for it's class. but they don't make the XRS as of 2007.

meh, base model corollas/matrixs are still faster than base model civics.

Thats because matrix/corolla's are semi sporty, while the base model civic is ment as a ecno-car.

PArider

Oh and to go with your Corolla's base model is faster than civics base model. Not true

Corolla/Matrix (same engine):
1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT-i
4-cylinder
126 hp @ 6000 rpm;
122 lb.-ft. @ 4200 rpm

Civic:
Horsepower @ rpm 140 @ 6300
Torque 128 @ 4300

anyway, back to the thread topic. i drive a 2005 corolla. mr2's are alright, im not a huge fan, but they can be pretty cool. i see this earlier model mr2 up at my cottage sometimes, it's pretty nice... what year mr2 would u like to get?
