I work in a shop and have plenty of time on my hands. So I wanted to see what i could do about my aheadset coming loose, and the problem with broken star nuts.

1. Find a washer that fits directly into your fork.
2. weld an appropriate sized nut for your application onto the washer
3. take and allen head bolt to match the nut
4. weld an appropriate sized washer for your stem ontop of the bolt
(careful not to cover the allenhead hole)
5. spot weld the nut andwasher about 1/2 an inch into your fork top.
there you go it will never break and you can drill the allen bolt out if you want to run a front brake through it.

Um, that's stupid.

Bomb proof aheadset=solid or primo gorilla

Dont run a fork with a star nut if you're breaking them.

Yeah Solid will do it easy and if your that bothered about breaking it be a true bmxer and put a juberlee clip round the bottom cup. Not too hard or yourr crush it. BMX has always been the bodge job of the biking world and as it should be.

I did that as well. Makes things nice and easy. But i still used my bolt, i hate allen wrenches.

Deffinately ...and how akward is it to use an allen wrench on that part of the bike anyway...its like adjusting your brakes with the chain in the way not getting a full turn...it just sucks.

This is almost as stupid as a redneck bmxer shooting holes in his toptube thinking it will save weight then going off to his sweet sweet cousin.
