are you talking about the middle of a double?

the pit serves as an area to get dirt from Wrong. The "pit" helps you keep your speed through a rhythm section.

The next jump is at the end of the pit. They let you get dirt, and smooth the area between a landing and the next jump.

there are afew reasons to build a pit.
1. to get dirt from
2. makes trails abit more flowy
3. main reason (at least i think) is for instance, if u want a 6ft upramp but u dig a 2ft deep pit then u only hav to dig up 4ft of dirt

it also makes the jump bigger in a sense by lowering the ground right before it

you can dig another pit going downhill thats perpindicular with the main pit so that the water will just drain into that pit insteadd of the one you ride in. if that makes any sense to you
