Someone was spied riding this rather fetcing metal lump on there bike, more commonly known as a bash guard, is this the future of BMX or just another passing fade/trend.

Small, slammed seats, wide bars, no pegs...
Trials and bmx have quite a bit in common with some peoples bikes...

I know trials riders using pegs and narrow bars.

Sounds like mine aswell but then I do have a 3 year background in trials and its part of my style. It also explains my weight whore moments.

I think the bash gaurd is cool. it could stand to match the bike a little better though.

these have been around for soooo long. its just like an old school bash gaurd. this is nothing new. this bash gourd is a lil different but the idea is the same as old setups

Can someone say 80s?!?! Thats how long Bash guards like that have been around, not a new "trend" its old as BMX is. Only thing different is the old school ones were not made of aluminum and usually bolted on the chainstay(like a kick stand) and a bracket would hold the other end around the frame.
^ True. Some frames even had integrated guards, like the Haro Sport.

im not hating it. i defffffinatly wouldnt use one but for those who hate their bikes and like to grind on other parts of their bike than their pegs, this is great for them.

that's definitely ruben's bike. go to www.flybikes.com, then, when you get to where all the news are, go down to the bottom where you'll see "news archive", click there, then press ctrl-f, and search for "chapter 3", and hopefully it will lead you to the "new projects: chapter 3 ruben bash guard" post.
yes, but these are newer pictures that show that it is holding up...

seems like a good idea, it would make it less likley to hook the back wheel on a rail hop or w/e too.....
just have to make sure its worth if for what you do, if you never grind obv. its not a product for you, but if you grind alot, mess up sprockets, do disasters and sprocket grinds, then this could save you alot of time and money.
is it heavier or lighter than a full bashgaurd sprocket such as the MDS? thats the question.

I'm working on getting a smaller version of that make of hard plastic.
I run a 23 tooth sprocket so mine is only an inch and a bit high.
If you ride alot of street this thing is an awsome idea.
I've been trying cain grinds on rails but I've broken my chain a few times. damn halflink.... I miss my collaps chain.

i dnt like it its just a chunk of metal maybe for a heavy rider but most people wont need one and i hope they dont start putting them on because of this "trend"
