decided to try and help out some people that might have trouble with bw steam rollers.
backward steamroller:
rolling on your front wheel backwards while holding the seat in front of you.
How to get into a steam roller (easier way):
Start off with your feet on the pegs on 1 side of the bike, like you are going for the beginning of a fire hydrant. Then spin arond 180 degrees on your front wheel, now you should be rolling backwards facing your seat. Now you should grab your seat and lean back a little to cause your rear wheel to lift, now you are in a backward steamroller position. from this point its all about balance, do not stick your body to the handlebars, always keep your back foor back for balance as seen in the picture.
backward steam roller spinning:
start of the same as noted above, when you get after then 180 rotation on front wheel part, you have 2 options:
1. Right after the 180 turn, swing the frame with the momentum left from the spin, catch it with your foot, and lean into the circle, like so you should be in a circle motion, but to perfect it you will need to practice.
2. After the 180 turn keep rolling, pick up the seat with your preffered hand, give a good scuff, and lean to your preffered side, you should lean a fair amount of degrees, at first you might jump off cause of the feeling you gonna fall, but as soon as you get the leaning part, its all about balance and technique to keep it going.
hope that helped a bit, open for any criticize.
you can find a front wheel version of the trick by this following link:

turbine means changing the direction of the trick. Bw-fw and so. Turbining is not spining in the same direction.

Nah I'm not sure thats right. Turbine is like when you bw steam and you lean the bike way to one side and it makes you spin really tight. Your wheel looks like a dropped coin.
A spin is just a spin, there is a dif between a turbine and a spin. A g-turn is when you switch from bw to forwards.
My tip for bw steams is to never pull on the seat, pull the handlebars back and lean over them.

umm i guess my ip would be to hold onto bars and seat and SLOWLY put your weight back...that way there is no big shift all of a sudden and you dont end up on your ass lol
also yeah dont pull the seat youll dump yourself on your ass

mysaviour, try pulling back and apply pressure on the leg that is on the peg, i dont pull up the seat, i pull the bars back and catch the seat... i lose balance too if i just pull up...
hmm so instead of pulling up the seat, just use your weight to lift it and just catch it with your hand, interesting.
Matt Wilhelm says to lift it with the hand on the bars and use the other hand put push DOWN the seat.

k kool..ty! :D but whenever i lift the seat up temporarily..i tend to lean to one side......then bail lol....i think the max ive ever been gliding whilst holding the seat is one second...lol ::oops:
seems like I'm at the same level as you saviour. I've been watching lots of steam roller and mc circle vids, I noticed they're leaning and bending forward quite a bit. I'll have to keep that in mind, I always fall back, gotta keep centered over the bars and not too far back.. do I have the right idea or is there more to it?
