Greetings, obviously I'm new to this board. I've been lurking for a few days and look forward to interacting with everyone on this site. It is nice to see some older (30+) guys into BMX. I'm 36 and just bought my first bmx bike. Like some of you on the board I got sick of the mountain bike scene. I like the simplicity of the bmx bike. Although, learing how to bunny hop without clipless pedals has been a challenge. I just bought a fit team complete bike and I love it. Can't wait to head out and ride tonight.
Thanks,
Todd

bunny hopping aint so hard once you get the motion dow...
and why do they call em clipless if they clip in. shouldnt regular peds be called clipless and the clip ons called clipons???
kool great to hear that you've made the correct desition and chosen BMX. if you search the forum you'll find tips on how to do a bunnyhop and other tricks as you progres. begin with bunnyhops then move to manuals, 180's and feeble grinds

I always got confused by that but its because before spuds(the shoe clippy in ones) everyone used to use the normal toeclip with the kinda cage bit stuck on the front of the pedal that you stuck your foot into. Now they've got rid of them and put the clip in the pedal so some cretin thought it'd be a good idea to call them clipless.

Thats totally cool man. I have the Fit team and its a fun bike....except i can never ride beacuse everything keeps breaking...but thats probly cuz im fat so no worries lol. I just ordered a new back wheel (36 h oddy cassette into a 7KA) and i recommend upgrading to a chrome back rim asap beacuse the stock brake gave me shit left and right, and the more braking power you can get, the better IMO. congrats on the riding. and so i think clipless are the pedals where they clip on (its been a long morning lol)... why they call them what they do is beyond me, but the hardest part of bunnyhopping is learning to lock your feet on the pedals and tuck so good luck learning that.

Awesome. We actually have a sticky for "Hi I'm New", http://www.bmx-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4787 but being you are so young  and actually gave us some details on where you're coming from, what you're riding, etc....we'll leave it here. Plus I am tired of locking them all lately. Seems like there are a LOT of riders lately in the mid thirties.."getting into it" either for the first time, or again.
I started at 38 and have been riding less than 3 years (barely) so I feel your pain brudda.
This is a good bunnyhopping sticky http://www.bmx-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=27401
