What do you think about creating an international bmx community? Run different forums in different countries, exchanging experience etc. I have lots of ideas about it. Write me if you have what to say batonchik@bk.ru

Hi
... we are an international bmx community!
We also have a german part here(see the flag at the top of the page)
We only need a person for every language because we can't write the descriptions in your language.
If you want to create an ukranian forum (don't knowthe language you speak there), you only have to translate the english forum-categories to your language. Then you also should want to be moderator there to control what the users from your country post.

i mean communicating not through the the internet but meet in different countries, each year for example. Organizing contests etc.

and my idea is to create live meatings or it's not possible?
Wynex

yes it is possible.. but complicated
It's easier to meet people from the own country. International meetings are possible.. but someone has to organise them and it's expensive.

i'm sure there must be some sponsors and other sport funding organizations. The only thing is to collect a team who would manage all that stuff
Wynex
02-19-2004, 03:31 PM
first of all we need to find persons from all the countries and therefore we need a forum for each country (language).
We could make a list here with people who could manage the country-forums
English - our team
german - our team
russian - bmxua?
ukrainian - bmxua?
polish - "Dave_Mirra"?
spanish?
french?
more languages... don't know

it's not so hard to find people, for the first time there might be 5-10 countries and then the other will connect. Let's post a topic where people would vote against or not. would realy great if we think it all over.

It's not a question of what the english users here think of it.. it's important for the non-english users who don't have a place to meet.

i think all people willing to take part in this project should meet in this forum at the same time.

i think all people willing to take part in this project should meet in this forum at the same time.
That's right, let's make out a date and time like in 2-3 days so that everyone could read this?
Wynex
02-19-2004, 09:19 PM
I think we don't need a date for this. This is a forum :D Everyone can post and the others read it when they come here. People who want to help should announce it here so we know how many people are interested in this project.

OK then. how should i translate it all?
bmxua
02-20-2004, 09:33 AM
sorry, that was me who wrote above. forgot to log in
there are enough dutch/belgian people (in belgium they speak french and dutch).
I can help for the dutch part. (casperh, deeleeuw, trialdemon, bmxdevil?)
but maybe it is smarter to make one forum for each language first (one general forum where everything can be asked), because otherwise you get many empty forums where hardly anyone posts.
Wynex
02-20-2004, 01:48 PM
hmm yes... but i also want to seperate the forum-databases from the beginning so you can't find dutch, german or ukrainian posts when you search for something in the english part. I would translate all categories but one main categorie like "general discussion" where most of the people will post their stuff at the beginning.
bmxua
02-20-2004, 02:21 PM
so tell me what's my part then, ok?
Wynex
02-20-2004, 02:57 PM
ok.. first of all we need the translations of the categories here (english forum).
Please send them all to forum@bmx-zone.com - Subject: "Translation +language"
Ok. We always need the english description above your translation so we know what it means :D
At the moment we have:
dutch: FOL (casperh, deeleeuw, trialdemon,bmxdevil?)
french: FOL (casperh, deeleeuw, trialdemon,bmxdevil?)
ukrainian: bmxua
russian: bmxua
polish: cpb rider, Dave_Mirra
bmxua
02-20-2004, 03:03 PM
so i have to translate the names of the categories on the index page and that's all for now, yeah? And i don't think Ukrainian language is needed because 99,9% of ukrainians speak Russian.
Wynex
02-20-2004, 03:22 PM
ok.. then only russian
We need the names of the categories and the descriptions (can be short)
bmxua
02-20-2004, 04:01 PM
I've translated but need to check for mistakes. And now gotta go. I'll send it 24 hours.
no no no I'm not belgian so I can't speak french :D only in one side of belgium they speak french, so maybewe don't even have french speaking people...
maybe any of the canadians?
edit: I don't know if the others (which I worte between () do want to participate with it)
edit2: dutch part is translated
bmxua

Wynex

No not really.... I'll just have to change the forum code. That takes about 1 hour+debugging time. I wanted to do today afternoon but until now I've been sleeping because of a bad headache. Nevertheless I will try to do it today.
