Article from BMX-Zone.com, http://www.bmx-zone.com/en-article-id-335.html

This is a quick guide on how to get your grips off/on very easy and do not require the most fanciest tools like, air compressor, hair spray, and what nonsense else you can use.

I'd recommend that you just go out in your kitchen take a glass, fill it up with water (you need pretty much of it, depedent on of how good your grips were glued on last time it was off).

1) Take bike.

2) Tip it on the side.

3) Now, take your glass of water.

4) Put some water UNDER the grips form both sides.

5) Use some hand forces, to twist and tweak that grip until it easy slips off.

6) SWOOOOP!!! and your grip is off ;D

Well, it's a great alternative to the riders that don't got that much money or a air compressor (if you have this, then i'd recommend to use it, instead of this, cuz when you use this method your grip might take some time to dry up.) So hope some of you guys could use this for something!

or just get a screwdriver into the grip sray wd40 and twist the grip until the wd40 is all around it and it comes off.

wd-40 corrodes the grips and screw drivers scratch up the bars.

After the grip is off you get a papertowel and wipe the wd40 (or w/e you used) out really well, and it wont scratch if youre careful.

Water takes a long time to dry! like sometimes over a day.

Do the same effect, except with lighter fluid. It drys in about 5 minutes tops.

and, fitbikeco909 is right,.

take air compressor with some sort of nozzle on the end and lift up your grip a little, slide the nozzle in there, turn air on and the grip will slide right off. no watery mess, no scratched bars. good to go

my lbs uses hair spray tt get the grip off and by the time you get the new grips on the hair spray is tacky and acts like a glue to hold the grips on....
I don't like that but for them it works i am of the screwdriver and wd40 method i haven't scratched any bars using that method but have stabbed the grip a couple of times... usually you are taking the grips off toput new ones on anyways so it doesnt matter that they get stabbed....

I know I'm helping in a massive gravedig, but, who really cares if you scratch your bars? If you do scratch it it's gonna be in a place that's COVERED by the grip, so what's it matter?

Thanks jm0. Works well without scratching my bars. I used hot water. Seems that this works a bit faster.
