Beginner looking for some BMX riders in NE Ohio. I'm 23 and live in the Akron area.

Post a reply if you're in the area, or track me down on AIM = GirlsGunsBeer.

Any more riders around here?

It was a lot easier to find people when I wasn't that creepy tall guy with a job who falls a lot, but might buy you beer if you're cool.

Seriously, I go up to these bmx kids in my town to talk and they look at me like I'm a leper. Not sure why.

I don't know. All I can say is I hated it, then I moved to Montana for a year. Now I love Ohio.

I live in Mentor and I'm trying to get back into BMX as well. I wanna try and get my old bike back together today hopefully. Dumb question, but can I take a chain of a bike then reattach it on another?

is ohio really for lovers?

lol

Ohio is cold.
Ohio has shitty weather.
Ohio does have lots of posers.

I wouldnt say ohio is for lovers though.

People keep telling me to come back to Texas though.

Back on topic though, we need to set a date to hit up some street in Cleveland.

I'm thinkin meet up at the cleveland skate park(rock and roll hall of fame) abd then go from there. But we still have the when to worry about...

You drive at all? I might be in Parma this weekend, but I still wanna go for a ride downtown. You got any other guys you ride with that might come?

Aceman
04-11-2006, 02:29 AM
I dont drive, but I can get downtown very easily, as there's a rapid station right around the corner from my house. I may bring 2 or 3 of my crew, but I know a lot of my friends will be digging this weekend in the metroparks.

We gotta set up a time and place we're meeting up. Day time? Night time? Rock Hall would be a good place to meet up.

O and if you can go make sure you post up what you're gonna look like.

Bike, clothes, height, appearance in general ect...

Ill likely be on a grey haro with yellow pedals and a grey helmet, wearing blue jeans and a red t-shirt.

teflondon
04-13-2006, 07:19 PM
I go but, no money, and no helmet. That place is pretty close to where I'm at right now.

EDIT: Anybody got an extra helmet I could use? I'm sure I can get my hands on another $5. I got a helmet back in Mentor I could use but it's a 45min drive to go get it.

federal_rider12
04-13-2006, 10:10 PM
i got a helmet you could use, i bought one and never use it  . jk i bought it so i could get into parks requiring them, but every park i gone to required them but i never wore one without issue.

What I need to do is get my aunt to pay me the money she owes me. It's be cool if she could just pay me in full. An extra $800 would be nice right about now. I got quite a few bills to pay off right now. A new bike would be nice too.

04-14-2006, 01:25 AM
oh i know how it is. be nice to have money to get my daily driver car up in running and be able to pay for the tags and insurance, so it sits in front of the house and i drive it around here so it remains running whenever it lets me shift it since the mounts are bad

teflondon
04-14-2006, 01:26 AM
What kind of car you drive?

federal_rider12
04-14-2006, 01:32 AM
well my project car and has to be my daily driver too right now is a 97 saturn sl2. no one ever suspects the saturn, secrest under the hood people dont understand unless you know them.

but the car i have in my name is a 96 ford contour. i cant stand ford but got this car for nothing because it needed an engine, so i dropped one in and have put loads of money into it. i would like to get rid of it and get another saturn since i know saturns extremely well and are fun cars, MADE OF PLASTIK! god i love that part.

teflondon
04-14-2006, 01:37 AM
How much does it weigh? I still kinda want to get an old EG hatch as a beater/project car. I love lightweight cars.

federal_rider12
04-14-2006, 02:05 AM
this is for 2nd gen (usually more of them seen) SC2 (dohc 2 door coupe) weighs in at 2385, while SL2 (dohc 4 door sedan) weighs in at 2390. i just love these things because its all aluminum engine using lost foam castings (very good castings) and trans is stout but differential should be addressed before putting alot of power to it or spinning wheels. extremely easy to work on them, and just damn fun all around.

they have low end torque and mine should a pretty flat torque curve throughout rpms so you dont have to rev it out to go like hondas. honda blocks are weak being they are very open so the sleeves shake and distort while the saturn has an almost closed deck with extra support around the sleeves. i could go on and on, i just love these things!

teflondon
04-14-2006, 02:09 AM
Damn, that's lighter than I thought. That's about the same as my old Civic. I ended up blowing the headgasket on it on a trip to c-bus for a meet. Try to keep up with all those modded cars was not good for mine, lol.

federal_rider12
04-14-2006, 02:36 AM
haha, thats the problem with hondas being that the deck is so open, they like to blow head gaskets and crack or distort sleeves. best and only option in my mind for a fix is to buy a new aluminum aftermarket block to fix the problem. those stupid sleeve savers are junk and cause more problems.

just another reason i like my saturn. and yeah they are pretty light

bikes are always allowed.

i think someone mentioned trails at the metro parks. whats that about?

federal_rider12
04-14-2006, 07:11 AM
man i havent hit trails like ever! had some dirt jumps but no trails.

rideohio
04-14-2006, 05:46 PM
ive rode some trails a while ago, but it was my first time and they were small an dnot very long, but id like to try them again. i do have a step down and a double in the woods near me, and im trying to build some more and get trails going. but i would think youd get caught pretty quickly at the metro parks.

Who's gonna be downtown? Are we going tonight or tomorrow night? If not tonight I might go to Big Happy's if I can get my hands on $5 more and a helmet.

I'm broke as is, so the less money I spend the better. We're talking about downtown Cleveland. What time are you talking about going to Big Happy's again?

federal_rider12
04-14-2006, 07:13 PM
i dont trust riding in downtown akron. havent riden in cleveland. all ive done since ive lived here was ride down to auto zone in streetsboro to pick up a part for my car and got a flat tire on the way back, no nail or nothing. still cant figure that one out especially with that thick street tire.

but other then that, all i do is ride right here in the drive. not much of anything to do right here but i just warm myself up getting loose since its been so long.

I don't know. I've walked around downtown cleveland at night and didn't have any problems. Aceman said i's cool to ride there so I'm not too worried.
