haha no prob. the only thing that i see that might be a bottleneck(if anything) for your system is the video card. And even that is a good one, so you should be rockin new games with dope resolutions...

2.6GHZ P4 (Stupid celeron)
512DDR (going up to a gig soonish)
40gig hdd (going for 160gig SATA with the next fortnight)
TNT2 Video card (old and shitty but it gets me through it)
Lame CRT monitor which is on the verge of exploding in my face as i write this up.
Wireless keyboard + Mouse
Dvd burner commin in the mail
and some other crap that I can't be bothered writing down.
As you might have picked up im slowly upgrading stuff one by one and im not gain enough to overclock coz my mate fried his mobo and processor and is now relying on 733MHZ, and I don't want to stoop down that low plus my cooling is crap and the processor already hits about 50-55degrees so if i overclock it im ****ed :D
Hey whoever has the 6600 vid card in their comp they wanna build dont get it.Its such a waste of money when you can get a 6600gt or even a 6800 regular for around 175 or less on newegg.com.That 6600 wont last to long and it struggles on any resolution above 1024 x 768 on FPS.I dont know what games you play, but if you plan on playing quake 4,f.e.a.r.,and Battlefield 2 with nice settings with minimum lag the 6600 isnt for you.The 6600gt is a much better buy.

Bottlenecking is like... if one part of your comp is mediocre, while the rest of your stuff is good, then all the power of your good parts is wasted because of the mediocre part. The neck of a bottle lessens the amount of water that is able to flow, hence the analogy. Or for you bmxers out there it'd be like if you had all the nicest bike parts in the world with the exception of 1 pc cranks. That video card is the one piece cranks of the computer world.

No shit, but +.6ghz oc on a 1.8ghz p4 is a big jump. Just asking how he's cooling it. Are you also ocing the bus and voltage?
yeah i am. i also forget to include that i have 1gb rambus son. 300watt power supply. i really thinking about using liquid nitrogen to cool my computer down even more since its running so hott right now.
danot2serious1
09-03-2005, 02:07 AM
Liquid nitrogen isn't that great for constant coolness, it's usually used just to bring the temps down for a little bit. A shot or 2 to bring down the temp. A .6 oc is water cool worthy, but then you have to worry about condensation when you turn your comp off. You'd be better off getting a new cpu. How's your comp reacting to the oc?

im running a 450w supply and i got soo much stuff i need more!!!
and a little custom mods i got is a top fan,, and a missle switch for power
Actually on water chilling makes condensation(that includes water chillers, the Vapor series, liquid nitrogen, and putting shit in a refrigerator then running it to your pc,Ive done that)But any smart pc person knows to insulate the tubing to protect against condensation.
and no the 9550 isnt good for gaming. The 6600gt is basically the bottom line for anything decent now a days.

300W?!?!? Please update that very soon if you are running OC, even though the CPU isn't crazy fast, a low power supply could really be draining your pc.-Timg

Yeah, but you still risk condensation with w/c. There is no way to protect against condernsation with liqnitro. because the air is cooled. The cpu can get condensation on it when running w/c, because while the water doesn't cool the air, it cools the cpu unit and that means the body is colder than the air so condensation can occur.

what would you recommend for a graphics card then?
also, how does the water cooling work? what would i need to run it? and is it worth getting it? jsut some questions thats all....
xtimgx

Water cooling can really just end up to be annoying and probably expensive to a novice user. Just make sure your parts are up to date, you have a couple of fans and you will probably be fine. A nice CPU fan could really help, they sell killer ones out there. Just make sure a nice heatsink is attached to that.-timg
No water cooling isn't worth it unless you want a uber good overclock,a nice looking pc,and are obsessed with having a low termpature pc.IT takes lots of research to figure out what best for YOU.I did weeks of self modification to my water cooling and case(that means cutting and soldering shit on).
As for the vid card I would say you obvoisly are a gamer. So what games do you play?and whats the specs of your pc?
^^^Those questions can help me pick a specific card for you at minimal price.

game wise, would be first person shooters (F.e.a.r, counter stirke, delta force, rainbow six games) and also stuff like command and conquer: generals, rome: total war......
and the pc will be
amd 64seprom 3000+
1024mb ram
200gb hard drive
dvd/rw
5.1 sound card or some sort
19inch tft monitor

Pretty much what I am running, except for that "D" word in there :) j/k
My personal PC has the Radeon 9800/128 AGP, and really a pretty good card.
I just built another gaming PC, with all of the above with the exception of 2 gigs of ram, and the new Radeon 850 PCIE / 256 MB. I can't tell a difference....lol
xtimgx
09-04-2005, 04:27 PM
I recommend any video card that is Pci Express. It is the new technology that really blows AGP away since it is twice as fast. I personally like ATI, but I guess if you want NVidia, you could do that. A 128 MB Pci Express video card isn't even that expensive and will definately look nice. Or go all out and get the 256 Mb card. Good luck either way.-Timg

In that case look at these cards
Those are pretty much the lowest you want to go
I have the 6800 and I was able to unlock the extra pipelines and shaders and overclock it and it performs similar you a 6800gt.
Those cards I listed are for the price range under 175 dollars or so.If you want to spend more get a 6800gt.Im assuming that you have agp 8x on your motherboard since you have the socket 754 semperon.
Give a look at those cards and tell me whats up
