Hello, my cranks are really tight when I spin them with my hands but I dont notice as much when Im riding. I kind of like it like this but know it beats your bearings to shit. I really have no clue how to loosen them slightly just so my bearings dont need replacing every week. :|
All answers which help toward me loosening my cranks successfully recive +REP.
Thanks.

Do you mean your cranks take more force then they should to spin?

might be your chain being too tight

Yes 7 and, I put my chain fairly tight but with a bit of play because my rear end is low on my frame and it always hits my frame when its loose, scratching my frame and making a noise.

your cranks may be crushing your bb
do you have a tube spacer in there?

well if youve got the tube spacer in the middle of your bb you pretty much cant crush them by just tightening.
but seeing as you dont even know how to loosen your cranks then i doublt you will know what im going on about.

Flip your bike over so the grips and seat are on the ground. Spin your back wheel forwards and backwards, if your cranks move a lot, your cone nuts need to be adjusted. If your back wheel spins freely and your cranks don't move, I'm not sure what the problem might be.

If my chain is too tight I get this problem.
Have the chain tight enough that it looks rigid, but has a bit of slack when you push on it.

undo the bolts that pinch the crank arm onto the spindle.
slightly losen the bolt that actually goes into the spindle.
tighten the pinch bolts back up.
hope this helps :)
