Trick Description:

While rolling your spin your bike 360 degrees, starting with 180° on the front wheel and then 180° on the back wheel. This Trick can be done clockwise and anti-clockwise.

Learn before: Endo
HOWTO:

Begin with a slight left turn, followed by a quick right turn...

Keep your body weight leaning to the right side and the lean forward quickly.

... Use your front brake and turn the handlebar about 90° to the right direction. The speed will bring up your back wheel and you turn the bike.

Take advantage of the momentum and keep turning your handlebar to the right side. The bike will follows this movement and keeps turning too.

You can use the feet for assistance to pull the pedals horizontally while spinning. It's easier to make the full 180° that way.

As soon as the back wheel hits the street you pull the back brake....

... and lean back very quickly. Start lifting the front wheel...

... and turn your handlebar to the right side. I

Stretch your legs and try to get some physical tension...

If you did everything right, the rest of the Rockwalk should be very easy.

... - Finished! You can do Rockwalks now.

For most Beginners it's difficult to do the first 180°. Like most tricks, also the Rockwalk is easier if you don't ride to slowly – at least modearate speed.

Me and a friend practised this a long time ago, we didn't get it done. Maybe with the small extra hints form this article we'll get it done again.... I need to get my front brake on and my back brake working decently again though.

I've seen brakeless (front and back!) rockwalks...It just looks...weird...very different. (at least it goes faster)

I learnt them without any brakes, you just need to have medium speed probaly a little faster then with brakes (you cannot do them slow as he said), you slightly turn one direction to wind up and then turn quickly to the other direction (near 90 deg, if you turn this much and lean forward your back will come up without brakes) while putting most of your weight on your handle bars to bring up your back tire. then treat it like a 180 endo, it spins by leaning... and then the second 180 on the back tire your handle bars should be turned opposite of the way you first turned them or straight and it almost feels natural to spin back around.

You do the raise and spin very very fast, and then the last 180 can be done slowly for added style.

thats for me at least

I learned how to do this brakeless...it's quite an easy trick to learn and it can come in handy if you don't have breaks if you want to stop :)

It's a very old trick, from a time when people sessioned kickturn ramps and did 1 foot 1 hand kickturns.

Actually, on further investigation, it's even older than that, Bob Haro did one for a magazine back in '79.

Any advice for us guys that dont ride a front brake?

just practise, treyer perfectly possible and even pretty easy without front brakes, just lean forward, pop you backwheel up and keep turning the bars. look on youtube for clips and watch closely what they do (backwheel pop height, bar turning stuff etc.)

edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK3ci8iuOgY that guys has got em pretty dialed.

you dont even need to crank it round just use the momentum from the 180 on the nose and slide the front wheel round nicely :)
