I'm new to BMXing after a 20 year break and am looking for a good all around bike that can be used for racing and riding on street. I'm 5'8 and 180 pds.
1. Are the race bikes durable enough for street?
2. Does such an all around bike exist or would I really need two seperate bikes?

Thanks

You will probally want two different bikes. You can get a big redline though. That would work alright.

I have a redline recon and its a awsome street bike but redline specializes in racing bikes.
What does everyone think of Wall Tires for a flatland bike.

Why not try looking into some Trail/Park bikes, such as the DK Four Pack?

That's what I ride. At first I was all park, but recently, I've been getting into trails and dirt jumping more and more. Just slap a nice dirt tire on up front and your good to go.

Only problem is, Park/Trail bikes usually weight around 30-35 lbs. That may be a little heavy if you plan to race against some Featherweights. But if you have the Money, you can always swap out a bunch of parts and chop off a few pieces to keep the weight down. I believe some people have gotten their street bikes down to about 25 lbs.

Just build up a bike starting with a good light weight street frame such as the S&M L.A.F. or an FBM Deployer and build it it up wuth Odyssey or other light race forks and light bars, as set of strong 36H wheels and an all purpose tire. Then all you need to do is velcro on your padset and number plate to hit the track. But, then again for what it will cost to build a high quality superlight street bike you can easily buy 2 or 3 decent completes.

My old Diamond Back is an early/mid 80's model, with the original diamond cut gusset between the top/down tube :D
