Server Status

The Server has been causing trouble for the past few days. It has been so slow that it eventually crashed again and again. We now know why this happens. It is caused by the update from Plesk 8.6 to Plesk 9.0.1 which is the official server managing software by parallels.com.
We are not the only website who is having trouble with the new software. We are still working hard to get this problem fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

EDIT: We have disabled a few of the critical services for now. Emailing doesn't work as a result of disabling this service for the sake of getting the server back online.

The server has been running stable for 10 minutes now. That's good.
I still don't trust the new server software 100%. I would be positively surprised if it survives the night. Well.. we'll see :)

I did my best. It looks like it was really the update of the server software that causes the problems. They stay off until a patch is released or I'll try to replace them with a different service with similar functionality.

Server seems to be okay for me at the moment...
Although when I tried to send somone a personal message it said that I can only send one every 60 seconds and that I have to wait 6775457 seconds before sending another one.

... I didn't even send one...

Since this is a new setup there are still a few things that need to be done. There are some issues with automatic picture generation and uploads. I'm aware of the fact that there are some but would still appreciate it if you post anything you find here so that I don't miss anything later on.

What exactly happened? In simple terms...

one of the modules that comes with Plesk (the server software) killed the server without creating high cpu load but still making the server so slow that it was unusable. It not only made the website slow but also the whole admin control panel and even my direct ssh connection to the server. That's why it was so difficult to track down the cause.
I did the update last week .. I think tuesday or wednesday and after that the problems started. Now when I reinstalled everything.. twice ... I had to do the update again because the license wouldn't let me use the old version. So now I just killed the processes that cause the trouble and installed everything and did some database fixes. Simple as that :D
