I've never worn one but theres a few obvious things to point out:

pros:
- better protection
- looks cooler :p

cons:
- heavier, may be more awkward on your head
- hot
- more expensive

I'd just go with a regular helmet, I'm sure fulls protect more but a top is fine for me.

it only takes one hard knock to the head to make brain damage.

The thing for me is I'm deciding on another helmet, and since I already have one for the top of the head and whatnot I don't really need another... I also get a 50% discount on a majority of the stuff at sixsixone.com

This helmet comes out to around $75 for the helmet including shipping.

No, no it doesnt.
Unless youve made a new trend being a sight-whore.
do you really just move your eyes to look at things?
Ride your bike in the dirtection you see something that catches your attention?

I wear a protec ace of spades one.

light, don't noticed the weight at all
the one i have people say it's so small,(compared to the ones like mirra, and wade uses) but not when it's on your head.
protects very good
I want to make some drawings on it like my favorite bands
for me no cons at all, not to tight and looks good

Just one quick question sorry for stealing thread but I hate wearing helmets should you wear one even if you don't ride hard I mean I've hit my head a few times and it hurts I'm worried what people will think when they sell me with a helmet on lol.

full face helmets are basically around to stop you smashing up your face and to protect your head they are hot a bulky however you can now buy lighter full face helmets so they are not to heavy at all. the difference of wearing a normal is if you hit your face with a normal helmet on your gonna smash it up. you only tend to see people wear them in trails or when they try some crazy stuff however they can be quite expensive to buy

What do you think when you see someone wearing a helmet? I don't think they look silly, but I don't wear one. If I did, it'd probably be a full facer, because I like my fetching good looks even more than my brain's functionality.

racing= full face. saved my life over the summer.
Hit a double ide hit 100 times. cased. Went over the bars. hit my head really hard and got koed for 30 mins. woke up in an ambulance. scary shit.
Freestyle=little helmet. till i hit hard riding ramps i wont run a full face.

just thought id point out, you can get EXTREMELY light downhill MTB full faces, which have carbon inside. they are fair expensive tho.

you cant hear as well, and it limits youre prefferal vision heaps.

if youre a pro, you can get away with it imo:wink:

I wear one in parks, they are alot hotter inside but not to a point that you have to take it off, well I haven't had to yet. Also I have been in braces for the last few years and the last thing I want is to smash up my face and teeth and have to go through the whole thing again.

The main reason I wear one is for the confidence factor, learning with one on makes you feel a hell of alot safer. People look at you like wow this guys good but then when you can hardly even get air of a ramp everyones like, why is he wearing a full face? You don't need to worry about them because you know yourself that you will never learn to get air if your afraid you'll smash your face up if you fall.

Not the most experienced rider but i have a full face and don't like it. Heavy, i hate not having good peripheral vision. I only where it when i wanna try something new/big. Otherwise im just wearing my ball cap and hitting the jumps (no whips for me)
Also to who all says they are expensive, 100-150 bucks is worth saving my brain/face

Not to threadjack but anyone have any recommendations for a smaller helmet? I'd rock those eveytime i ride.

Most people will agree with me in saying the protec classic with 2 stage foam is the best.

Full-face helmets still have straps that you do up. Despite having a much more snug fit than a piss-pot helmet there's still a chance it'll slip off or move in a collision.

As for the pros and cons of wearing a full-face:

Pros

>Better protection.

>Gives a huge confidence boost when you want to try something new. If you bail, you get to keep your pretty little teeth.

>They look awesome, it has to be said! Catch your reflection in a window as you're passing it and BOOM! You'll be worse than Narcissus :P

Cons

> Can be uncomfortable when you were it the first couple of times. For many, the full-face is an acquired taste.

> I've found that when wearing it, despite the vents, I get very hot (but, then again, I'm always trying to go as fast as I can on a high gear ratio so I'm hot all the time anyway :P)

>I've found that if you wear one to a park you'll get a few funny looks, or people will expect you to be of a particularly high calibre. My advice: **** 'em, life is too short to worry about what other people think.

hellls yeah i need one! im gonna get me one of those too. i was ridin catty trails earlier and i used my face as a brake pad against the ground. i dont know how i didnt lose any teeth or break my nose. i cut my lip in like 5 places inside and out and i got a mouthful of dirt.. my face still hurts.

Hehe i love my teeth so fullface

pros:
-way better protection than buckets
-looks cooler;)

cons:
-could be heavier
-kinda awkward on your head
-it gets hotter in there ;)
-more expensive than classic helmets (needless to say that a carbon fiber one is really a budget destabiliser)

Most of my teeth are fake...so there you go. Want to be like me? dont get a full face. Want to be pretty and not look like a scum bag? Get a full face.
