what is the purpose of removing the chain guard? is it for cosmetics or to do certain tricks. i still have mine on for saftey reasons.

keep it real

Well......... there is mainly one reason..... BECAUSE THEY'RE ****ING ***......... Reflectors arn't the most attractive thing ever and after doing some harsh riding, even flatland, your chain guard is most likely going to snap

chain guards i thought were so that your trousers dont get caught up in the sprocket (i have had many embarassin moments where my sprocket has torn my trousers and i had to walk home half trouserless)

Most bikes comes with a chian guard and reflectors, but they don't realise that having those objects on your ride would get your head kicked in

Danscomp puts reflectors and chain guards on your bike when they ship it. But they make it really easy to take it off. They have to sell it with them on.

companies will always put gaurds and refelectors on, for liabilitiy reasons.
For example
rider: Aww...i got my trouser leg caught in the chain when i was on the main road, things got nasty and i managed to scraped my face under a car tire...Im gunna sue that bike company for selling me sum kinda sick death trap...

shop owner: Hey, man thats not our fault- the bike came with a guard, but u took it off..suffer the wrath of vanity FOOL!

These guys do it jst to save their own asses cuz they, like us know the score when taking ur guard off

Summit even gayer than chain guard: Handelbar tassells.....

i used to work in a bike shop and its not true that most bikes come with a chainguard. the only bmxes we sold were diamondbacks and they ranged from the cheap to the more expensive but none of them had chainguards. mountainbikes don't have chainguards on, chainguards have nothing to do with insurance at all. reflectors however do but i didn't say anything about them. reflectors have to come with the bike. kick stand? oh ****ing dear

and most likly your reflectors are going to pop off from a bad curb endo or something

most companies put them on for liabilitie issues and such, if a little kid gets hurt on their bike because they got their fingers caught in the sprocket cause they didnt put a gaurd on, the mom could go and sue them and probably win, so why not just put the gaurd on and whala, its their fault, most low end bikes have them on, most bikeshops do, ive put bikes together and they had me put on the reflectors and such, its a safety thing too, because if the bikeshop that puts it together dont have it on certain bikes then they could be sued if someone gets hurt and such, its kinda hard to say why, but some bikes have them, others dont

its just some thing that people do to make biking less apealling, bike lights, horns, helmets just to ride around town, then u need blah blah blah, reflectors or ull get a ticket. i think with all these laws their making its saying "dont ride a bike, you need to know 400 laws just to ride it down the street, drive a car, pollute the earth, waste fossil fuels, get fat!"

look at bikers, do you see any fat bikers? hmm i wonder why its rare you see a 200lb biker!

everyone send me their wheel reflectors.

The reason you should take that shit off is because your gonna get hurt... reflectors are sharp plastic that can cut you if you get tangled in the bike... especially the ones that attach to the seat post... as for chain guards... you take those off because when your doing certain back wheel tricks it can get in the way... and a kick stand??? TAKE THAT SHIT OFF NOW... that will get you seriously hurt... I could imagine someone doing a tailwhip and the kick stand swingin out while the frame is whippin around and then stabbing the rider in the leg or in the foot... its just not safe... if you were doing a stick b, that would really get in the way... and if you fell on the bike in a stick b, the kickstand would impale you... and thats no good...

i tok em off. kinda pointless and my jeans are narrow enough where it dont get caught.
they arnt girl jeans but they are pants that are narrow fit.
and never got caught yet.
and i like pants cuz when the pedals bash my shins it is a tiny buffer between skin and metal.
