ahh you dudes have some pretty sweet rides. I've been racing for 4-5 years and still have the same Hoffman Flash Pro, Im really sick of it and cant afford to get anything better. The frame is waaaaayyyy to short which i guess is slowing me down a little on the track.

No... I think that the lever ratio's are different?

That's right. A u-brake lever pulls 6-9mm of cable and a V-brake lever pulls 20+. I have seen people mix them but the power, modulation, and feel just aren't right.

its doing pretty good. the only thing ive had to change on the bike is the back gear so i could have the gear ratio like the one on my 20in. next thing ill change is the tires to 1.75 because right now the back is 1.75 and the front is 1.95 and i dont like that
