Ok, so this may be a stupid question but i honestly have never rode a flatland bike and ive never known anyone that rides flatland. On the other hand, i do enjoy watching flatlanders as much as any other type of riding. Some of the tricks are mind blowing. Anyway, what i dont understand is why are flatland frames so damn beefy? Seriously, the majority of flatland tricks if not all, are on flat ground but when i look at some of the frames you guys have, they look twice as thick or strong as a dirt/street frame. Whats up with that? Are they lighter than they look?
For example just look at styled_by_monkeys frame: http://www.bmx-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=14054&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
The head tube looks like it could go up against a freakin' tank and win 8O .
I assume theres a reason for this....my only guess is that they need to be due to the flex thats appiled to the frame while doing tricks with a lot a force. idk, you flatlanders could probably explain better.
