yep, i have it. used it. nothing. right now, i cant run any new programs. no new windows will open, and my buttons are gone. the ones at the top. "file, edit, etc." it happens every time i get bombed with those popups and i successfully stop them. everything fixes when i restart though

do you use internet explorer? try getting firefox. ever since i got it i havn't had a pop-up. its so much better.

spybot search and destroy is a good adware remover

never open any emails that you dont know

go start>run>msconfig>startup and remove anything you dont recognise.

That should get rid of most of it.

i use three programs and i NEVER have problems.

first is Norton anti virus
second is zone alarm (blocks cookies and hijack attempts)
and adaware cleans up the few cookies that i let through (zone alarm blocks them if i dont agree)

to get rid of spyware that doesnt get cleaned up by adaware you have to go and manualy erase the files or quarentine them. yoo might even have to edit your registry files or bios if you let them do their digging

spybot is much more thorough than adaware. I once ran it after running adaware and it found 6 things that adaware didnt.

I use firefox and never get popups, but if I use Iexplorer I get about 5 'search bars' and loads of popups as soon as I open it. Oh yeah and the homepage which is 'the most powerful search on the web' I cant get rid of it.

Have you tried Spyware Doctor? You can find a free trial at www.download.com. I had Ad-Aware before Spyware Doctor, and the latter blows Ad-Aware away.

First, know where it comes from and how you get it and try and avoid those places :)

Second, use good anti virus software that includes a good FIREWALL.

Third, I use a great product called PestPatrol....get something like that that runs in the background and filters stuff through.

I run on a fairly high bandwidth connection, play games online, surf porn (shhhh) and hardly EVER deal with pop ups, viruses, adware/spyware, or even much spam. Kind of like a gyro brake system....get it configured well and it will work well.

(only analogy I could think of :roll: )
