When I bought this bike, I was completely new to BMX. I’d just seen some flatland on a random programme, and knew I wanted to do that, so remembering I saw a review of this bike in BMXrider magazine, I checked it out further. I think I did look into a couple of other bikes, but I decided this one was better for the money. (From where I bought it, it only cost £260.01 including postage + packing).
The KHE Messerschmitt is an expert level bike, and doesn’t cost a huge amount more than the entry level bike, the Flatliner. It comes with good three piece cranks, which haven’t failed me yet, but that’s not surprising since I’m only a beginner really. The mainly cro-mo frame (with high scuff-room clearance) is quite strong and light and with its 18.9” top tube, is very easy to handle. The bars (Kpro 8-piece cro-mo) are very nice and also light though the grips that were on them are horrible.
The only slight problem with this bike really is the integrated rotor system. Within the first few weeks I had this bike, the back brake cable snapped. It was actually quite easily fixed though, and I’ve had no problems with it since. I reckon that if you set it up properly then you will have a minimal amount of problems.
Wait, I’ve found another problem, again only slight. The rims are anodised (black), which makes for little to no braking at all for the first month or so. After about a month, the brake blocks will have softened up, and the braking is actually quite good.
Overall, the KHE Messerschmitt is a decent bike for either a beginner or an expert; therefore I give it 9 outta 10.
