Seatpost. Not too surprised, it was an Odsy Intac which is aluminium. Bent about 5 degrees straight back. I was running it this high:

No access to camera for pics after bending, not real interesting anyway.

Well the majority of seatposts are made of aluminum. Get an aluminum seatpost with an I-beam in the inside and it probably will avoid this.

I know this, I didn't just start riding again yesterday.

This is the oldschoolers section however, where people probably actually have bent a seat post in their time, so I was pointing out it wasn't chromoly like the posts of old.

it's this thing.
it's like a dildo.
but some people cover them with this thing that has like plastic and padding and stuff on them.
and they cease to be a dildo.

Yea I wasn't trying to say you were dumb or anything, just suggesting a post with an I-beam.

Good suggestion. I bent it in exactly the direction I-beam posts reinforce, from landing on the back of my seat a lot.

Might also look at posts with interal ovalising.

Damn. I'm running an intac. I've bent many chromo posts in my day, both straight and laid back.

^ The OG Pivotal post looks strong front to back, and the big wide teeth of the post->seat interface look hard to strip (the top half of my Intac's guts are stripped so it appeals to me), but I hear Pivotal seats are pretty easy to bend, not having rails and all.

I didn't realize most posts were aluminum. I've got a steel old style post on my Haro that uses removable guts for the rails. I prefer this type because you can flip the guts and make it look cleaner.

Slam your seat.

Slam your seat.

Why? Not everyone sets their bike up the way you do. I personally have my post up about 2 inches, a slammed seat feels too low to me. Plus I think it looks so much better with the seat at the height I have it. Besides, this is the old school section. Have you seen an old school bike with a slammed seat?

I think he was referring to me. Either way, lol @ his statement. Having a non-slammed seat provides more trick opportunities, for less weight than a peg or brake arms + lever + cable.

I know that, I just wanted to make a point :)

If slammed, why not just clamp a 2" square dense foam piece down with cable ties?
