No-one has done anything on BMX specific shoes, so i thought i'll give it a go. i appologise for any spelling and grammer mistakes. im not feeling on for this afternoon. (damn christmas shopping!)
Orchid Vandever
These are van homans signiture shoes. When i first put them on i could feel the difference in the support. The soles were stiff (just how i like them) and they were really comfy. possibly the comfiest shoe i'd had.
Over a couple of days the shoes showed some wear. the stiching at the front of the shoe started to come away. no big problem, but unexspected after a couple of days.
i had these shoes for a good 2-3 months until they had died. After this time the soles where soft and there were big holes where my pedals had been.
For the time i had these shoes they treated me well and offered support and comfort for my stinking feet!
Orchid Duvals
Now these shoes look sexy! i got them in burgandy and white. Again these shoes were comfy.
The stitching problem that the vandevers had seems to of been fixed with these ones. i didn't have any problems with them.
For having 2 pairs of Orchids now i have come to the conclution that there soles arn't very strong at all. This pair again got holes from pedal wear fairly quick, but the big problem was after about a month i looked at the soles and noticed a huge crack all the way round the inside (6 inches on 1 side, and 8ish on the other 8O )
Lotek Troops
Now these are the daddies! i've had these for over a month now. the soles are just starting to soften up. There is little to no pedal wear on the right shoe and fair amount on the left (but no where near as much as the Orchids) They look very sexy in brown to.
From owning these shoe i can say that the Loteks have so far held up the best, But dont look as good as some of the Orchid models. I will continue to support both companies and buy shoes from either of them. Its good to have shoes made by riders for riders.
