The Review - By Josh aged: 7

Well around july time i decided it was time to purchase a new back wheel. that has held up really well. i also decided to buy a new freewheel for this new back wheel. I was told the shimano would be of excellent quality and was assured it would last a long time because :

it's what the trials riders use

needless to say i was happy with my new back wheel and was happy with the, what i thought was, reasonably priced freewheel.
I rode this freewheel as my biking skills improved and it never really took any big bails. it did have my body mass on it from 6 foot high ledges but that was what to be expected for it. after all:

it's what the trials riders use

in the time of october I was still happy with my backwheel. the freewheel had no problems whatsoever.
then on the 9th of october, something dreadful happened.
I was knocked into by a skateboarder, fell off my bike at a funny angle and ended up dislocating my ankle and breaking my leg in more than one place.
so i was out in hospital for the next two weeks, had an operation to correct the fractures and had some plates/bolts put in (10 bolts and 1 plate to be exact)...
so i had a heffer cast on for two weeks after that, then for the 4 weeks after i had a removable cast. which enabled my ankle to get better.
whilst all of this was going on, i was constantly fixing my bike as i had not much else to do. one of the things i did was take my back wheel apart and re-lace it. as far as i know i didn't do anything to effect the freewheel except clean it with cleaning stuff. and i didn't clean the inside of it or take it apart.
I recently (yesterday -wednesday) started to ride my bike again. and when i was crossing a road i pushed down too hard. heard a clunk and fell. this wasn't good for my confidence considering i had just had my cast removed totally and had been walking a lot during the day. and if i do say so myself i fuct my ankle up a bit more.

so i thought nothing of it. thought the chain had just come off. had a look and the chain was still on. so this befuddled me and i came to the conclusion it was just my chain slipping on and then off. but it happened again and that was when i got suspicious. i decided to ask people on here why it would do such a thing. but no one replied anything helpful (as usual) they just told me to buy a cassette hub. like i have £70 lying around eh?)

so i decided to take a look at my back wheel and check everything was okay. i took some of the tension off of my back wheel so it was easier to spin around and that.
i thought this solved the problem because i took the bike out for a spin and encountered no problems. but when i went to ride it today (thursday) it started doing the same things again. so i decided it must be the freewheel giving in to pressure. which isn't exactly what makes a reliable freewheel. especially when you haven't used it for so long and want to get speed.
so i decided to get a new free wheel, a diamond back one as it was the cheapest. this new freewheel has held up well even though it has only travelled 3 miles.

lots of love
gary

what the fcuk do you expect me to write?
it costed me too much. it broke sooner than i would expect from a costing too much freewheel. it doesn't seem to be best quality if it lasted for just over 3 months. i wouldn't recommend getting it because it doesn't last nearly long enough. i would recommend the ACS claws cause they are le cool. :?:

We expect you to write a nice long review that you took your time on. Just write more about it, EVERYTHING you can think of, maybe then you will help somebody other telling them it just sucks and broke. Tell them how you think it broke after you took it apart. Take pictures they help alot too :)

The diamondback ones suck. They are quiet, but they jolt from side to side, giving tight spots.

oh well, it's only temporary anyway. i doubt it's gonna have any hard riding on it for a couple of months at least.
i like quiet freewheels :) it doesn't jolt from side to side for me. and my chainwheel is buckled anyway so maybe it'll make my chain have no tight spots ;) haha

lol!

mine didnt start wobbling for about a month I think, but if its only temporary it doesnt really matter.
